We had to get willis bros out to cut and it was a pai ful and messy job. I didn't even think about the fact they had to cut the stone. It might just be easier to get one under the cupboard or something. This is on page 102 Re: Coral Homes general build thread 3764Mar 22, 2016 1:37 pm Oldies Firstbuild92 Finnsmamma You also have to factor in cutting the stone. My dad who's doing all our electrical want to get recessed led lighting??? But has said he can swap the battens but it might leave holes etc so I would rather swap them at our electrical appointment Re: Coral Homes general build thread 3766Mar 22, 2016 4:26 pm BTTTB So electrical question, what is the price to swap the batten for something else??? My dad who's doing all our electrical want to get recessed led lighting??? But has said he can swap the battens but it might leave holes etc so I would rather swap them at our electrical appointment We did owner supplied LED lighting. Coral wanted to charge something silly like $145 per light or something and it was just a Chinese LED. We were going to do the batten and swap out later but the Clipsal guy pointed out we are then paying $66 for the batten just to throw it out and then pay for your own light plus own installer. An Owner supplied light only cost $78 installation(expensive installation costs) + cost of the light We got out BrightGreen LED downlights for $70, Coral installed for $78 so it cost $8 more to get a high end brand of LED light installed. If you go for a cheaper LED light(some are as low as $9) you can save some money there. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 3768Mar 22, 2016 4:39 pm BTTTB Yeah that makes sense..... So do they take the $66 off the $78 for the ones included? My dad is so shocked they charge that much just for a batten!!! No, so in your plan you will assigned a single batten per room and that is usually included in the base price of the house, remove it and you don't get $66 credit as it's included in the base price which sucks. Want to add a 2nd batten, then it's $66 per batten. We just replaced all the batten lights with owner supplied lights, paid the extra $78 per light and put our own LED and Oyster lights in. We're ready for good luck and a speedy build! Our variation caused by having to meet Council's energy requirements should be finished tomorrow. Council is just waiting for it and then we'll have approval. Hopefully then a start date. Easter will make it a little later but nearly there. Can't wait! We bought our land nearly 30 years ago and built on it then. We subdivided off half of it last year, sold the house half and are renting while we bu ild on the other half.
