Very happy to see it but also noticed that they've put the walls with the windows upstairs in the wrong spot.... Still, great to see that they did some catch up work over the weekend. The SS texted that they would definitely have the trusses up by the end of the week. I texted back "that's what you said 2 weeks ago..." He apologised and said he'd make sure it happened this time. I'm sure we'll be around on Friday afternoon for a peek. Keep us updated!!! Much appreciated. Re: The Eskay Saga - Back to Building! 212Jun 03, 2011 3:53 pm Thanks Karen!!! We just had a call from the builder saying the frame is done and we're about to send the next bill!!! Talk about fast. The SS was on the phone this morning saying they may not finish today and they may work Sunday so they would have the framing inspector around next Monday. I told the folks on the phone I was going to do my own inspection and not to send the bill until I see it and speak to them on Monday. They said "OK"... Be there in about 45 minutes...with my camera!!! I couldn't say that all of the frame is fully up but certainly the majority is up now. The kids were very excited to finally go upstairs and see the true size of their bedrooms and the music room. Just a couple of photo's with the roof tusses on. Went very well with him being very accommodating on a few things that needed fixing up. not his fault but the designers. We have one major issue with the Bay Window. The designer completely messed it up and in it's current form can't be made as there's no way to lean the weight of the ceiling up against it. A bit complicated to explain. What we've asked them to do is turn it into three separate windows, two x 600mm at the angles and one long window parallel to the walls. This gives a small gap where the angles are at the reveals and a beam can be added there to support the ceiling and fixturing. On the outside that would be covered with some angled aluminium the same colour as the window frames and on the inside the gap can be covered by a piece of thin timber. This also gives us three windows that can have standard window coverings rather than having to go with a curved track of some kind. I think it'll work! All other little niggles covered off and being fixed. COME OOOONN ROOF!! Your home is looking fantastic ~ love your bricks! The music room is a fantastic size + going to be so brilliant for your kids (they must be impressed!!). I went back to page 1 + had a look at your plan ~ I think I get what you mean with the bay window. I think the three separate windows idea is a great solution ~ as you say, it'll make the window coverings sooo much simpler. Well done you guys, yay for all your progress... ~ it's looking great! _______________________________________________________________ We're a knockdown | rebuild ~ Melb SE burbs Building modified version of the Fairhaven Glenaire Homeone thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28429 _______________________________________________________________ Re: The Eskay Saga - Back to Building! 218Jun 10, 2011 10:22 pm Thanks VT !!
