Browse Forums Building A New House Re: The Osprey Build (DAH - WA) - "We're About to Get a Hat" 121Aug 18, 2010 1:47 pm Thanks Bagheera If my memory serves me right, didn't you go with a similar frontage to the Frangipani display? We nearly went with this however when we saw the Reflection we thought we'd go with the Cedar lining as we wanted the garage door to match in. I'm praying for great weather for you next week!! Let there be loads and loads of sunlight - just for you Bagheera. I hope you are planning on a HUGE slab party. We had one - it was really neat. Some guy on a big Harley rode by, then stopped and yelled out "love what you guys have done with the house" cracked up loudly and drove off. We all laughed. Yes I know I'm very slack. The roof is near complete. Ridge capping just needs cementing in. Plasterer is ready to go towards the end of next week which is rather exciting. We are fairly happy with the tiles - a few chips here and then but nothing that won't be fixed and replaced to our satisfaction. Definately nothing to worry about which is good. So for those of you that are interested, some photos below. Now don't quote me on it, because hubby hasn't yet done a block stalk. But if the're there, he will actually go in and say hi (ha ha) and take some progress shots. Now the cheaky so and so's put in an order for hot scones with jam and cream for morning tea!!! What's with these tradies wanting extra special treatment. Thank goodness for me Subiaco is a long way from Wattle Grove. I did try and entice them to work on the weekends if they wanted a nice morning tea bought to site, but I'm not sure that they are really that keen. We'll see. So, hopefully tonight I may be able to post some 'plastered' shots. In other news CLO and SS are fantastic. They got straight on to my query on Tuesday and the water pipe was fixed and they did a thorough clean through inside. Top marks again!! If he's going to be my plasterer can you tell him that I'm your H1 friend?? We were able to nominate 1 trade ie Plasterer, so he is doing this for us and thereby agrees to be paid at the DAH rate. We did have to go through some paperwork prior to pre-start, but he is used to doing this so it wasn't any hassle. We did this also the first time we built with DAH. He does a lot of high end work and is part of the Master Plasters' Association so does some interesting stuff. He is also tied up with an organisation called Silver Trowel and is heading over to Malaysia in the next week or so to conduct some sort of hands on training course. Have you had any deliveries yet???? I wish Google will update their maps every 2 minutes but that's not going to happen so unless I ring one of my neighbours I would not know until 5.30 - 6.00 when I get home Preliminary agreement 23/11 Contract 22/03 Prestart 06/04 - finalised on 30/04 Unconditional approval 10/05 Demolition 05/07 Slab 26/08 Brickwork 13/09-06/10 Roof frame started 07/10 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32292 Re: The Osprey Build (DAH - WA) - "Plastering Begins" 138Sep 09, 2010 2:55 pm Hubby has just done his "pop in" and phoned to say that the Plasterers are hard at it. So far they've done 3 bedrooms, the toilet, bathroom and they've started on the activity room. No bad for a morning's work. Oh, and they've put their order in for some cold beverages tomorrow afternoon at knock off time!!! Photos tonight - I promise. I'll be going past on my way home, so will take some with my phone also. (with the pics that is). If you don't mind me asking, how much was to change the front elevation? Re: The Osprey Build (DAH - WA) - "Plastering/Rendering PICS 140Sep 11, 2010 9:44 pm Hi There Well the internal float has finished and I was pleasantly surprised to find the guys rendering the front of the house today. Unfortunately they wern't able to complete it due to the scaffolding being in the way, but apparently they talked to our SS to arrange for it to be removed. We scoped out the Portico this morning to decide on where I wanted the feature limestone render. I'm excited about this. They'll do a sandfinish render first and then come back at a later stage to do the feature render over top. Just to remind you, it will be something like this pattern: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The rest of the render will be painted Solver Lundy Grey (200%) so I am hoping it will all tie in nicely. I lost a lot of sleep thinking about all my colours, so it will be exciting to see it finally come together. So... a few other progress shots. I am hoping to get a few extra tomorrow when we go for a visit. I did take some with my phone on Thursday after work, but they are too dark to upload. I'm not sure if it actually came in that much but it would have been close. But given that we have such a narrow block (15m wide) we felt we had to spend the money to jazz the frontage up so that it had a nice street appeal. I'll try and dig out all our paperwork to see what the exact cost was. We didn't like the Osprey frontage at all.
