We should've gone the monument balcony as well, not happy with the silver look. Has the beam under your balcony been painted yet? Still waiting on ours to be monument. Getting there. Keep up the positive thoughts. Shire_Synergy - no it's not painted yet. I think I made it surfmist, I should of made it monument. Also what colour is your cladding ? Ours is surfmist and once again I'm thinking I should of made us monument. Our lower roof was left like that for a few weeks. I think we did get some showers of rain. Same for us, we had the ridge missing for about a month on the lower roof. I guess this is a feature when building with Masterton and Jim wouldn't have it any other way. 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12588Nov 08, 2016 11:29 am MartinsHarmony Hi BuildThatThing, We selected a PGH brick called 'Stone' (previously called Cement). It's a standard brick, so didn't cost us any extra. I toyed with having to two front pillars bricked in 'Blue Flash' (another PGH brick, but an upgrade), but ultimately decided on limiting the exterior colours, to keep it simple & streamlined - much like MGardz suggested. PGH were great with providing addresses of places with the brick we selected and it was so helpful to drive around and see the brick 'in real life' and see what colour combinations other home builders selected. We have teamed our neutral brick with Surfmist Colorbond roof, Surfmist garage door, Dune trim & downpipes and Ageless (a white colour) cladding. I'm hoping my front door will make our facade 'pop', I've selected a wide, glass & timber front door painted Taubmans 'Lake Louise' (turquoise) with textured glass in the panels. Colour selection is hard. It's really hard to visualise it all together. Pintrest is helpful. We found driving around new estates really helpful as well - sometimes it helps to see what you don't like, as much as seeing what you do like. Goodluck! Hi MartinsHarmony, We also chose Stone. Did you get the colour variation problem with this brick (like on the attached picture)? If so, how did M deal with it? Our bricklaying started on 13th of August. 9 weeks!!!!, not finished yet, Build becomes a joke. So frustating to hear about their shortage of tradie. We are really concern about our floor as we are buiding double storey. does anyone have any experience about first floor damage due to 4 months exposure of sun and rain (as there is no roof yet ). We will do our flooring after handover. Any advice or suggestion greatly appreciated. Similar to Gibson, our upstairs floors were exposed to the elements for many months. It was a tad wonky around the joins and squeaky in a particular place due to the particle board being screwed to the joist, or not enough screws?? We're not sure why but it still squeaks!! We had our upstairs floors done in spotted gum timber by a non-M company. M did the sanding but the timber guys said the floor wasn't straight and charged us lots to make it straighter. In some areas you can really see the gap between the skirting boards and the floor which I've complained about to M during 90 day warranty inspection. They should take some responsibility. I think Bleaky had similar issues with the floor not being straight but because he went through M's nominated timber floor company M had to fix it to the standards the other company dictated. Good luck! Redwynne, I think we are going to have the same issue, they sanded the floors, but I don't think our flooring company will accept this. Did you manage to pass the cost of re-sanding the floors back to Masterton? We also have a lot of cement and thick paint clots on our ground floor, which Masterton does not want to fix as "their flooring company does the scrabbing to remove the cement and paint and it is in their quote". Not sure why the dealings between M and their flooring company should impact me, but just wondering if your flooring company had to remove any cement and/or paint from the ground floor? 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12590Nov 08, 2016 12:19 pm sandra 2016 In 2 weeks it will be 12months since we signed tender on a registered block and they are no where near finished they say march next year. Its just bs MGardz. So sad to think that you have keys and they have their final payment and they still cant complete their mistakes quickly for you. Cant wait for my review on their build. Anyone wanting a house built within 12 months of signing dont bother signing with M in my view. My SS pisses me off with lack of updates. Although he seems ok, but maybe he is to young to get his tradies actually working quicker or even showing up for that matter. And if they are taking on so many builds hire some more tradies for god sake. Every other builder seems to get their house built in 4 to 6 months from start to finish. The people across the road from me took them 4 months only. But they built with eden brae homes. Maybe all their tradies are working on their new living homes houses. They seems to be going up really quick. Would love to read your review MGardz have you done yours yet? My version is, Jim and his "shareholders" take too much money and pay little to tradies, so very few want to work for them. Tradies can work for any builder. If Eden Brae can get traidies and Masterton can't, this is the only explanation I can find. 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12591Nov 08, 2016 12:21 pm marina12 After nearly 10 months since getting keys M finally are organising to get my aircon moved after lots of emails persistence pays Marina, you've made it! I kinda blame the air con company for not bringing all this to your attention at the planning stage, though it's M's fault for engaging in their services! Gibson - Did your bricklaying take longer than 7 weeks? I think that's how long ours took. sandra2016 - PCI is the practical completion inspection. Basically if you go to inspect the house at PCI you're agreeing that your house is ready for you to live in it and from that date onwards M doesn't have to pay for the over-contract-damages so make sure that you're mostly happy with your house BEFORE you go to PCI. It also means that M can take their cocking-picking time in handing the keys to you and during this time (between PCI and keys) they don't pay you damages, if you get to that stage. In our case we had PCI around early December but received our keys mid Feb which meant we were paid jack. Redwynne, what was the reason for holding the keys for so long? Did M refuse to give you the keys until they fix all the issues? Did you have to install the flooring in February or did they let your flooring company on site? We are currently in exactly the same situation and facing a dilemma of waiting for all issues to be fixed and moving in after Christmass or signing PCI form this Friday with a lot of unfinished work so we can organise the flooring installation and move in before Christmas. The fist option is the best to make sure M finish work and fix issue sooner, but our rental place does not have AC, we have a newborn and the rent is killing us financially. I guess this is a punishment for choosing M as our builder. 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12593Nov 08, 2016 12:39 pm NJC Gibson - we got an invoice yesterday for the roofing even though they haven't finished the capping. It says 'completed' so I've written back to them to say it's not completed therefore I'm not paying the invoice until it is. Waiting to get a response. NJC, same happened to us, the capping (ridge) was not installed for a month! after we got the roof invoice. I did not pay it until the entire roof was done. 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12594Nov 08, 2016 1:13 pm quasi sandra 2016 re:M just after $$$ I'm sure it varies by office and customer/agent but I've actually found them extremely honest. Congratulations to everyone who recently got the keys or about to have them. Our PCI has been postponed several times. I took it to Fair Trading. OFT inspector is coming on site to discuss the outstanding work next week. Hopefully the inspector can issue an order for them to finish the work in a reasonable time. Had an argument with our SS, who accused me of "distorting his words" and "trying to set him up" and asked that all our communications are going to be via email only. Sent him a number of emails, which he ignored. (I guess this was the only reason why he wanted emails as they are easy to ignore). Escalated this BS to his manager, who is coming this Friday for a PCI (not confirmed yet). Gosh! I will make sure none of my friends build with these evil clowns. I emailed our SS asking him to put his stand on the issue in writing. Our CC responded saying, "this is a natural material, so some colour variation is normal". Our SS said the same in a phone conversation, so I wanted this in writing to avoid any accusations of "distorting his words". I responded saying, I take it as your refusal to fix it. Got an email from our SS saying: "As previously mentioned on several occasions (BS, he never mentioned this) I will review the brickwork in question and advise, I never refused to repair if required." Few days later I emailed him asking what was the outcome of his review and he ignored this email along with others. I sense a guilty conscience, so will be taking it up with OFT. 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12599Nov 09, 2016 9:30 am NJC, your bricks are still wet, so it is hard to tell.
