Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Feb 09, 2021 1:31 pm Hi, I have recently finished building our house and concrete we chose from builder is Mackley Exposed Agrregate for our driveway and pathways around our house in Brisbane QLD. The exposed concrete is excessively washed out and most of the places are exposed with less than 50% covered and it is very rough and painful to walk on it. I would like to know what you all think and appreciate your opinions. Attached few photos. Builder advised me it is very normal and this is how it is done. This isn’t normal. Doesn’t look anything like any of the aggregate I’ve seen. Just jump in Instagram and follow a few concrete companies. You’ll be able to show them plenty of examples of what it should look like. Re: Exposed aggregate concrete 4Feb 09, 2021 9:47 pm It doesn't look normal as the view/pictures are taken at distances of 100-150mm off surface with the 3rd image maybe 300-400mm off surface. Standards & Tolerance puts the required viewing distance for most finishes at 1500mm off surface. Stand up take the same image at 1500mm so it can be assessed correctly. I have added more photos as per your request. Last year I had a gas leak at my house. 3 days later, I have about 1 sqm of my exposed aggregate paving broken up.
