Subfloor vent - seeking opinion on location

We are building a split level house on a BAL 19 rated sloping site. The house has subfloor vents with spark arresting vent hole covers.

I’m curious to know if anybody has built their house with the subfloor vent located under the front porch area? This wasn’t drawn in the plans we’ve approved, it was only mentioned in the tender “subfloor vents to all external brickwork as applicable”.

In the original plans we were suppose to backfill the entrance to the front porch as per the drawn FGL before getting an occupancy certificate.

The builder said “it has to be there for ventilation purposes”. I understand this, but we are wondering if they could have put it in a more suitable spot.

We have very young kids and we were set on designing the porch area with minimal gap between finished ground level and finish floor level for safety issues and ease of access to the front door entrance. See pictures below comparing construction plan and photo of subfloor vent.

Update. The more ventilation the better. We have a massive subfloor cavity. Discussed options with landscaper and will build deck over entry and in front of window.
