Insulation

Well I am after advice again, most of the insulation was done today, and half of the plastering. I am not happy with it. Hubby asked the brickie and he said every house he has worked on has been the same. So that's the end of it as far as he is concerned. Tired of banging my head against a brick wall. What do you think , am I being too picky?

Grab the manufacturers installation guide, check out the link below and try to find a copy of AS3999.

Here's a link to the ICANZ installation requirements. ICANZ is the industry group for insulation installation.

Not good enough in my opinion. We have the same issue at our house and of all our many issues this is the one that gets us most worked up! It's such a simple job to do, just sloppy workmanship!
Well I sent an email to the builder for what good it will do as they put the plaster up as soon as they finished putting the batts in. I couldn't go into the house and look at what they were doing for they could order m off site. But as soon as they drove away I had a look inside. All plastered up.
Maybe I should as for the extra money back that I paid for extra 2.7 R batts instead of the 2R ones. I really doubt that they will take plasterboard down to look if there's gaps or not. I guess they will just says it's fine.
Cheers
the building inspector that frequents this site uses an infrared camera to show missing insulation
even after the plasterboard is up
Extreme lack of care. A real shame. I'd imagine it'd be prevalent in the industry, hidden away without question.
This really sucks. Person responsible for this kind of work should have been (crucified at the backyard) removed from the industry immediately.
I always use thermal imaging camera on my pre final inspections and more often than not I find thermal bridges where insulation is either missing or poorly fitted. Often I will also find roof leaks.
BTW, there are some very affordable ones out there on the market, which can be used with the smartphone:

I am thinking of buying one for my build.

Hebel Flooring PLUS Insulation or Not?

General Discussion

1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it
