Hi guys,
my house got finished around 4 months ago. I just had my 3-months maintenance done and raised some concerns about salt crystallisation on the entrance to the garage and around the slab. It gets worse after every single rain.
The maintenance guy had a look, dug down one side of the slab and discovered that the used bitumen paint only covers 10 - 15cm (checked on verandah) - meaning a lot of concrete is exposed directly to soil. Also the garage (side and entrance) and the verandah don't have any water proofing installed.
According to the maintenance guy the bitumen paint should go over the full height of the slab on every side.
Today I got a call from the paving contractor (paving done by builder), basically he told me that what he did was right ... and he blamed it on the concreters because they didn't add the right additive, ...
Are there any regulations / guidelines on what is the correct?
Cheers,
Alex
