Distance between stove and pantry.

Hi All,

Looking at adding a slim pantry in place of pot sized drawers between fridge and freestanding gas stove.

My question is, does there have to be a certain gap between the stove and pantry because of heat/possible fire hazard?
Does a special panel (fire resistant?) need to be used on the stove side?
Is there anything i must do to comply with the building code in relation to pantrys and stoves?

The kitchen guy who is providing a quote brought this up and has got me thinking as the drawers are very close although
they dont hold food and the building code if it exists in this situation probably wasn't around late 70's when the house was built.

Any info would be much appreciated and thanks in advance.
If the surface of the wall of the pantry next to the stove is less than 200mm from the side of the burner closest to the pantry wall then the surface of the pantry wall must be protected to a distance of not less than 100mm from the top of the stove.

just continue your splashback along side of the pantry
