does anyone know what the best course of action is when a renovation (enclosure of a back veranda) has been done without a building permit. the work was done by a family member and involved taking out a door and putting in some windows along the back, it would certainly be considered structural. it was done with recycled windows and the main cost was some plaster/gyprock to line the newly created room. at the time it was estimated to cost under $5000 (several years ago) and therefore no permit was sought (unfortunately neither was an exemption).
anyway, what needs to happen now to make this right?
