Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 May 24, 2023 2:25 am Hi guys, Engineer has provided me details for brick up retaining prior to pouring the slab, my house slab will be elevated ~700mm above natural ground level in some areas so the initial plan was to brick up and then fill/compact followed by slab. I am considering utilising deepened (drop) edge beams (illustration below) as a means to retaining the fill versus brick up retaining. Would anyone here have structural engineered drawings if they have utilised deepened edge beams in one of your developments? I would like to have a general understanding on the general thickness of the deepened edge beams (150mm?), reinforcements and general footing requirements (and rebates) prior to potentially having the engineer change the plans. The depth on reactive clay doesn’t necessarily depend only on bearing… 1 8681 Hi all. I have a drop edge beam down the left side of my house. Across the front the drop edge beam is approx 1m on the left and fade to normal ground level on the right… 0 6415 looks ok to me, round logs retaining walls are better than sleeper walls, more even preservative treatment and stronger since they include the whole tree and not just part… 1 9532 |
