Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Mar 04, 2016 7:50 am I am having my slab poured tomorrow. Like many project homes it is a waffle slab, and my soil is M class. The concreting company has told my SS formwork will be removed the same day as the slab is poured. Instinct tells me this isn't good practice and a bit of Googling suggests the same. Opinions? Anyone else found formwork was removed this quickly? Should I take it further and request formwork be left in place for a few days at least? Thanks guys. Slab had been down for prob 6hrs or so and no dramas Re: How soon can formwork be removed? 3Mar 04, 2016 9:28 am We used to pour a slab one day but usually remove the formwork the next day. Having a few extra hours as support would certainly not be a bad thing. Removing it the same day I'd be a bit hesitant to do that. Strangely they aren't actually taking the formwork away from site until Tuesday so I don't understand why it would be removed the same day. Do you think there could be long term issues with doing it? Lots of broken waffle pods and unsupported reo in there at the moment sitting directly on pods. Will be on site tomorrow to ensure they fix this in the absence of my SS M Y C U S T O M C O R A L B R O N T E 43 ...............Kitchen! 16 Nov 2016 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=79581 Re: How soon can formwork be removed? 5Mar 04, 2016 2:07 pm It's just to save them time. Most edge formwork is a lot easier to remove after only half to one day. If they remove it the same day then they can go to another job tomorrow. Stewie Re: How soon can formwork be removed? 6Mar 04, 2016 2:21 pm Formwork was removed on the same day for me. I figured its not a problem if the slab is hard enough they can walk on it and use the helicopter machine. There will be bigger issues to fight. oh if you are already not aware, dont be suprised the builder will have the all the frames delivered and placed on your slab within days. That makes sense if it is ease of removal... thought it was odd they would remove same day but not worry about taking it away. As long as it doesn't compromise the integrity of the slab, then I suppose I won't get my knickers in a knot about it! Thanks! This allowed the edges of the concrete beams to be inspected and any voids were filled to satisfy the termite standard requirements. https://form.jotform.com/240284569218058 Please spare a moment to fill out this survey form for a project.
