Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 May 07, 2020 1:42 pm G'day, Never had to reno a shower before and I'm really not sure how to go about it. What I've got is an early 90's era shower where the shower pan is recessed into the slab. I've gutted the whole bathroom due to excessive moister damage. I'm wanting to cut the slab out a little further to create a walk in shower. They've also used flashing between the shower pan and wall that has left an inch deep gap between the two. This will need to be filled in. Trying to work out what the best plan of attack is. I'm hoping to screed over the existing tiles and cntinue it out a bit further by grind out part of the slab. My problems are whats the best method to waterproof between the existing tiles and the wall. Should I be laying black platic prior to installing cement sheeting and screeding or should I install the sheeting and use a waterproof membrane from the tile to the wall and then screed? Also what do I do about the hight of the drain? Screeding/tiling over the existing tiles will leave me with the issue of the existing drain being too low. Lots of vague questions but hopefull someone can help create a plan of attack.
