Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 27, 2015 9:02 am Finding it impossible to go through all the selections we have to make! Just wondering what size bath people prefer? we can go up to 1800mm but I'm not convinced it's a good idea due to the time it will take to fill. I also noticed on our plan the builder has put in a 900mm shower, measuring the shower we have in our rental at the moment it is actually 1100mm. If I am able to increase the shower width, I guess I would have to decrease the vanity width (which I think they have put in as 1400mm). Any thoughts appreciated! Re: Bath & Shower size ?? 2Feb 27, 2015 10:57 am 900 x 900mm is the absolute minimum I tell clients they should allow for a shower and even then that's pretty small. Anyone washing their hair with both hands up in the air ( OK not me cos I don't have any! ) will hit their elbows. A good size is 1000 x 1200mm. Increasing the shower width by 200mm or so and ending up with a 1200mm vanity would be a lot more preferable to me. Can you post up a photo of the bathroom in question? Stewie Re: Bath & Shower size ?? 3Feb 27, 2015 11:02 am A decent sized bath would be around 1650 to 1700. Even for me, 186cm tall, I will be able to feel luxurious in a 1650 as long as the depth is 440 or more. 1800 is huge unless it's a two person bath. Remember that the measurements go to the entire shell of the bath not just the bit you fill with water. I just checked and my bath is 1800mm which I never gave a thought, but it tapers out at the top. I think that was the best size that filled the space. Re: Bath & Shower size ?? 6Feb 27, 2015 12:45 pm Beetaloo My showers are 1200x2000 as I don't have doors. I have found that when I use a small shower I hit my elbows on the taps. Our ensuite shower area is 1420x900.. I've never had an issue with 900.. but it will be great to have the 1420 so..err..two people can fit in the space at the same time 900x900 with two people IS possible.. but it's not very comfortable The master bathroom is 900x900 and the powder room bathroom is 1350x900 as it is essentially the same as the ensuite but downstairs. Only the kids will really use the master bathroom shower but anyone who needs more room and isn't myself or my wife could just use the downstairs one.. but certainly the smallest is 900x900. Bathroom shower is 1000x1000. The shower at my Mother's house is only 700x700 - no room to spread out the arms, just have to stand there and keep your elbows tucked in!
