What to use to seal bath tub drain

Hey guys I have a new fiberglass bath tub. Do I use silicone to seal the new drain pipe to the bath? There is a plastic rubber seal that comes with it but im guessing it goes on the other side of the tub?
Pictures would be a great help!

They normally supply two rubber rings one for either side.

The one under the waste plug(inside the bowl) usually leaks so my plumber throws it in the bin and installs with silicon.
