Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Nov 22, 2012 9:22 pm I'm still trying to decide whether to include a shower niche in our shower or not... I like them but I'm also wondering what alternatives there are, if any. Excluding those shower caddy things. Has anyone done something different to a shower caddy to hold shampoo/conditioner/soap etc? I'm interested in seeing some alternatives. I've tried performing google searchs but haven't had any luck. You can get white ones if you are more budget conscious too. Re: Alternative to shower niche? 6Nov 23, 2012 8:49 pm Hi HomeAngels, We have a niche in our ensuite, which we love, but decided to do something different in the main bathroom. We have a shelf that holds the soap and bottles. We had a glass shelf in the last build (which was drilled into the wall unfunkable) but when I saw this sheving system, I just loved it. Re: Alternative to shower niche? 9Nov 24, 2012 1:26 am You can buy shelves that have suction pads, instead of drilling, you can get them from Big W/Kmart. You didn't like the pic I put up? That was my alternative if I couldn't get niches. I think it looks lovely, I like how it blends in. I was looking into getting something like this done...and I'm glad to hear about the alternatives. A family friend of mine recently had this set up when they had their bathroom renovated. But it was by a company called DBM. Their work is really good (check it out here if you want http://dbm.net.au/portfolio), but I'm not in the market for a full renovation (nor do I have the budget!). So this post has helped provide me with some cheaper alternatives! I'll let you know if I come across anything else! I feel like I need to repay the favour...haha Re: Alternative to shower niche? 15Apr 08, 2013 6:45 pm Hi I saw what I thought was a brilliant idea on Pinterest. I'll see if I can link to it for you. Although I have no idea how this would be done. I wonder if it would be possible to have a niche with a internally hinged tiled door so that it's large enough for all of your hair care, facial products etc... Here's my attempt at inserting a link with a photo from Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/pin/97390410663034129/ You might need to copy and paste? x CG Re: Alternative to shower niche? 16Apr 10, 2013 12:06 am bringiton rocketship Hi HomeAngels, We have a niche in our ensuite, which we love, but decided to do something different in the main bathroom. Re: Alternative to shower niche? 18Apr 11, 2013 1:38 pm If you are building and the builder has the option of a shower niche. Ensure you choose a decent size. We chose a shower niche but the size was the frame. So after some plastering and tiles we can't even fit a shampoo bottle.
