Adding Toilet to Laundry

Hi All,

We are looking at renovating our 80s Laundry and were thinking of adding a 2nd enclosed Toilet at the end (see attachment)
We live in a 3 bed / 1 bath house and having a second toilet would be pretty handy.

Is this a good idea?

Would we need plans approved to add a second toilet? (we are in the ACT)

Cheers,
Bailes

A second toilet is always a good idea esp when you have a few people over. Any chance of installing a small window in there - for light and ventilation? Is the existing floor concrete or timber framed?

Thanks for the reply Stewie D,

The walls are brick and would take a bit of work to install a window. We were planning on having a skylight in the toilet for light and extraction fan for ventilation.

Raised timber floor. Plenty of access from under the house. Have organised for a plumber to come round next week to see if what I want to do is possible.

We installed a second toilet in our laundry on the first floor, it's one of the best decisions we've made!
Hi all,

So we went ahead with the Laundry redesign. It's pretty much all done now, just have to finish some painting.
The old Laundry will also be knocked out in the near future to make a larger open living, kitchen, dining area.

Pics are below of the process we went through.

This is the the location of the new laundry. Fireplace has been removed.

Frames going up.

Overall we didn't have too many issues and knocked it over quite quickly. We are very happy with it all.
The second toilet was the best decision we made!

Next step - Knock out old laundry and redo the Kitchen!!

Cheers,
Bailes
