Preparing concrete for waterproofing

Is it necessary to prepare and clean concrete before waterproofing?
We have removed old tiles from our bathroom floor and will obviously need to waterproof before the tiler comes in.
What is the best way to do this? It is very dusty still even after a good vaccuum.
get the surface as clean as possible vaccumming or even wipe the surface down with wet wragg. then apply bond crete or similar and let it dry as per manufacturers instructions
