Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jul 06, 2009 9:20 am Hey all Do many of you have duel showers. that is room for two people and two shower nozzles. I requested one to be built into my new home design and the Builder/Designer just looked at me funny like i was really weird. surely they are not that uncommon., Just seems like a great idea to me to share a shower together. Anyone who has a dual shower have any thoguhts on desgin layout and size etc.? Damn took me ages to find this signature thingy! Re: Dual shower 2Jul 06, 2009 10:59 am Our ensuite has a double shower and we love the idea! Not only is it good if we both want to shower together, but when we have kids it will make showering a lot easier for the little ones. We've got one normal shower head and the other is a pull out type on a rail (I can't remember the actual name of it) I'm not sure if this link will work but here is our house plan: download/file.php?id=2445&mode=view The shower in the ensuite is 1860mm x 900mm's Our house thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=18335 Re: Dual shower 3Jul 06, 2009 11:22 am HI - our house has a double shower in the ensuite as standard. We have only been in the house a couple of weeks, but the ensuite really does have a luxurious feel thanks to that and the spa. Our shower dimensions are 1800 x 1020. One end has a rail shower head and there is a dumper/rain shower head sort of in the middle. Even when in there alone, it is so nice to have the space of the double shower. Big recommendation here! Just measured ours and its 2.5x1.2m... perhaps a little too big? Im so looking forward to our double shower! Re: Dual shower 9Jul 06, 2009 2:12 pm I love this site as everyone is really helpful and you get great ideas!! My question about double showers is if you install a premade double shower unit or is it like a 'wet room' where it's all tiled and has no door to speak of? We have allowed a 2.5mt long x 1mt wide section at the rear of our ensuite. We would like construct a walk through (butted walls on either side) but not put a door on it. We would tile the entire shower area including the roof and the butted walls both inside the shower area and the walls facing the rest of the ensuite. A shower head will be installed either end of this with waterproof lighting in the roof. Can anyone give us some ideas about pre-constructing this? What kind of boards or water-proofing would need to be done to the floor, walls and ceiling to make this area completely waterproof? We are builing on stumps so will the underneath need reinforcing to take the weight of all the tiling? Is it possible to do a 'spray on water-proofing application' then tile over it? Any ideas are appreciated!!! Wendy The stumps are in the ground! Builder due back on site on 2 September 2009!! Building Due to start around the 1 August 2009 360 metre Driveway rocked and ready! Re: Dual shower 11Jul 06, 2009 10:30 pm sorry to be a party pooper: I do not have a dual shower and I do not want a dual shower - I like showering by myself and I do not want DH to have a shower with me but Happy Showering together for all you young romantics Re: Dual shower 12Jul 06, 2009 11:02 pm There were a few reasons that we chose the double shower (not just to shower with one another) 1. It looks twice as good as a single shower! (maybe even more) 2. We can shower the kids in it (when we have kids, 5 years away) and.... 3. We can shower together. Which will actually save us time getting ready in the mornings (that's the idea) Our house thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=18335 Re: Dual shower 13Jul 07, 2009 12:10 am Wow! There are some massive showers in here!!......Mine is small in comparision 1200 x 900 (no room or $$ to go bigger) but l'm stoked to be having a bigger shower than we have now with a shower head for me (l like my water hot as) and one for DH (who likes it tepid) plus that bit more room for both of us to ummm, move Re: Dual shower 15Jul 07, 2009 9:41 am We are getting double showers. Makes getting ready for work in the morning easier as we leave around the same time. Also I like a warm/cool shower where as my wife loves hot showers so double shower would be perfect Re: Dual shower 16Jul 07, 2009 10:57 am In the ensuite we'll have a 1200mm by 900mm shower. It is only enclosed by walls on two sides so we couldn't do the double one at each end thing. But we are having a dumper centred in the middle of the shower and a hand held shower thingy in the traditional position. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Dual shower 17Jul 07, 2009 12:21 pm Robanna I guess it is a personal choice, not everyone wants to share showers. Thats exactly right, like everything else its a personal choice. Like i said I am having a large double shower and I think it will be fun having shower togethers! And good for when we both need to shower at same time. The thing that did not get past me that my bf wants, is a very open plan ensuite and WIR where the toilet was out there with no door at all or anything!!! Yuck, being there on the toilet when he is looking for clothes to wear or vice versa. DA approved Waiting on a few more Builder's quotes. Re: Dual shower 18Jul 07, 2009 12:30 pm Helyn sorry to be a party pooper: I do not have a dual shower and I do not want a dual shower - I like showering by myself and I do not want DH to have a shower with me but Happy Showering together for all you young romantics Don't worry Helyn I don't fancy showering with my DH either, but I liked to look of the big shower and DH wanted the rain shower coming down from the roof and I wanted my little one on the end so's not to get the precious hair wet all the time but I'll tell you something, without a door on the end it gets a bit chilly some mornings Re: Dual shower 19Jul 07, 2009 1:53 pm We are having one but mainly for the reason that both kidlets shower with us at any one time. So imagine one grown adult and two kidlets all squished into a 900x900 shower cubicle - there's bums squashed against every glass panel So in our main ensuite ours is 2280 x 1000 - we are having a separate fixed shower head at each end and then also at one end will be a handheld for cleaning kidlets and cleaning shower as well. We figure that with our kids being so little - plus another one on the way - it will be ages before they use their ensuites so was better for us to have a bigger shower to use in the meantime. Some things are worth waiting for. I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says.
