After the door saga - I didn't think I would encounter another colour mistake so quickly.......WRONG!! I don't like my feature tiles.
Unlike the doors, they will not grow on me, they can't be covered up with plants/decking/fencing etc, they are supposed to be the stand out in my bathroom and I HATE them
They are a natural stone so they have come up an orange colour rather than the tan colour I was hoping for, I am also sure they are the wrong one. I think the color girl wrote down the wrong code and stupid me signed off on it so I'm to blame unfortunately
Anyway so far the tiler has only laid the powder room tiles so all is not lost.
He wasn't there today and I assume he won't be back until Monday...I'm hoping that in the meantime I can find a replacement tile.
I went out to National Tiles this afternoon and found a tile I like - a glass mosaic...problem it isn't the same size as my previous feature tile so it won't fit into the space where the original feature tile is in the powder room. So in my opinion the powder room is a lost cause - we will rip the tile splashback down after handover and have it done again..unless the tiler will accept a nice payment to rip down his work and start again
If I can get my hand on the replacement tiles before the tiler starts on Monday I should be good though because he hasn't done any tiling in the bathrooms, so I'm hoping it is as simple case as me handing over the new tiles and him laying them...
So here lays the issue. The girl at National Tiles said that some stores may stock the tile I selected and so I can take them straight away, otherwise there is a waiting period of 5-10 days. I somehow doubt PD will delay my tiling for up to 2 weeks just because of my mistake, so if I can't get a replacement tile by Monday/Tuesday I'm assuming I'm stuck with what I have. I also can't get them to leave it blank because it won't pass the Certificate of Occupancy.
If this is the case, we WILL rip them down after handover and start again. Keeping them is not an option
They are not bad, they are just not at all what I ordered and don't go with any of my selections
So I'm begging Melbourne people in particular. Do you know of any tile shops that are open on Sundays (I'm assuming everything is closed tomorrow due to Anzac Day) and that carry tile stocks in their stores ready to take that day?
Also any ideas on other ways I can get around this issue?!!
DH is away and I need all the help I can get!!
