Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 May 13, 2016 9:12 pm Hello fellow homeone members, Going to meet builder again soon. However he has verbally quoted us $18k just for referigerated cooling/heating. We thought this was bit excessive. So I was wondering if it can really cost $18k for this? Is there anything we can do to reduce costs here. Unfortunately we are not very keen on evaporative cooling. I also assume that getting ducted cooling/heating won't be possible do later after handover. If doing later I believe we would have to go for split systems?? Please provide me some advise/tips and help....thanks guys.. PS: I had mistakenly posted bit similar thread at wrong place. So apologies for that.. Re: Heating cooling for new build 2May 13, 2016 9:33 pm What size house are you building & how many outlets? Ours was $16.9k for refrigerated aircon in a 42 square 2 storey house with 16 outlets. Agree with you about evaporative, most of the people we know who installed it think it was a waste of money and ended up installing split systems. Hi old bloke, currently we are looking to build 39sqm double storey on East facing block. We don't know about how many outlets and zones yet. Before we grill the builder further wanted to know if this cost can be reduced without too much compromise? But we will definitely ask number of outlets and zones. Anything else to ask for?? thanks Looking to build a home in VIC. Land titled in November 2017. Construction started in February 2018. Double storey 37sq.
