Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design Re: Landscaping our half acre heaven- skinny love?? 133Mar 22, 2015 5:36 pm just lost a full post...grrr. Here it is again! Quenda All looking very nice, Treeseachanger. Hope your shoulder and DH's back heals fast. thanks Quenda, we are both now 90%. The garden is looking good after summer. Most things are liking where they are planted. http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b609/WestAussieforeva/growing%20garden2_zpsxqry1hmv.jpg My tuberroses in the verandah garden bed haven't flowered yet. Anyone know why? http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b609/WestAussieforeva/garden%20bed_zpsiyiqp5me.jpg We have been breeding mealworms for "our" blue wrens. these birdys come every morning now for their snack, "skinny love"?? no! The beautiful male was too quick for me, but not the immature male and the female. http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b609/WestAussieforeva/Blue%20wren_zps27zmnmdk.jpg http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b609/WestAussieforeva/blue%20wren2_zpsjmsogbnt.jpg I bought the dirty water pump for the pond while I was in Perth and DH is working out how high the waterfall should be... Pics will come eventually! Re: Landscaping our half acre heaven- skinny love?? 134Mar 22, 2015 9:00 pm It's looking great trees, I wish plants would grow a bit faster though! Gorgeous little birdies. Re: Landscaping our half acre heaven- skinny love?? 135Mar 22, 2015 9:26 pm All looking lovely!! And great work on the terracotta like pots! Wonderful upcycling there Re: Landscaping our half acre heaven- skinny love?? 136Mar 23, 2015 4:44 am Love the birdy - we feed the birds too Do I detect salvias? They're gorgeous - your garden is coming along nicely! Re: Landscaping our half acre heaven- skinny love?? 137Mar 23, 2015 9:53 am Thanks Yvonneh and Malsannie, I was actually disappointed with that photo because it's a lot more colourful in real life and you can't really see the society garlic flowers, the petunias or the hippeastrums that are flowering in it. Yes it's purple salvia as the background. I also have some flowers coming on my day lillies now but just starting. And my aquilegias areall foliage no flowers for some reason, same as the tuberroses...I want to get some lisiandras for my big pot after the petunias die, saw some stunning new colours of them in Perth and they are my favourite container flower. trixee It's looking great trees, I wish plants would grow a bit faster though! Gorgeous little birdies. Thanks Trixee! Some of our plants have really gotten a move on and as usual it's the tube stock. The larger ones struggle for ages, but once the tubestock gets their roots down they really power on! This winter and spring we should see even more of a difference in the growth. Re: Landscaping our half acre heaven- skinny love?? 138Mar 31, 2015 1:39 pm It's been a while since I posted anything here... lifting and moving granite is a slow process! Also I've been painting the skirting boards, a half a dozen lengths at a time, it's hard to find a place to store them til we can get them installed. The shed is chockers cos we've also been rearranging stuff and pulled a lot out to the car bays to make room to frame up the studio end. It will be lined for winter. DH's man cave!! Once the roof of it is finished we can pack stuff away and even use the roof for storage. So this is the progress for now. Doesn't look much yet. http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b609/WestAussieforeva/Watterfall%20start_zpsuyehayxj.jpg We now have enough granite slabs and pieces for the whole pond. All the remaining ironstone boulders will be put in use elsewhere. There was a shower of rain overnight which freshened everything up wonderfully... http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b609/WestAussieforeva/rain%20fresh_zpslpwepleq.jpg Re: Landscaping our half acre heaven- waterfall start 139Mar 31, 2015 9:44 pm It's really coming alive, looks great! I'm in awe of your rock-moving capabilities. Re: Landscaping our half acre heaven- waterfall start 140Apr 01, 2015 12:44 am a lot of grunting and groaning and bruises, luckily no toes have been squashed yet. Oops hope I haven't jinxed us Hmmm, I have checked your past posts and it seems that you are in NSW, not WA as I had thought. It pays to show your State in your avatar.
