Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Mar 05, 2021 8:30 am Hi all, I am currently doing a DIY landscaping job. As an essential part of my design I need to alter the level of the ground to create the desired slope. I have pre-existing fences (timber with concrete footings). I need to add fill into my backyard which will result in my ground level finishing higher than my existing fence post footings. From past experience and research, having the base of the fence post buried under soil rapidly reduces the life of the fence post. I want to avoid causing rot. I have attached a photo showing the proposed ground level, and showing the existing fence posts/footings. What can I do to avoid post rot at the base of the post?
