Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 30, 2015 8:15 am I had a quick dig around but either the info is old or I can't find it easily... I'm planning to get a whole of house water filter to get rid of the chlorine for showers. But I was also thinking of getting a further filter for the kitchen for day to day use. Anyone want to weigh in their opinions if I should go undersink separate filter or an inline filter (which means all the cold water from the kitchen tap is filtered)? A friend of mine likes the 'extra' tap they can use to get water when the other person is using the sink. I'm not sure that's going to be as big an issue for us. We'll also have water function in the fridge (but I tend to drink room temp water). Any advice, reviews, lessons learned welcome Re: Water Filters - what to plan for? 2Jan 30, 2015 3:28 pm I have a separate tap for filtered water. I find that it is a waste to wash dishes etc using filtered water. You will also tend to save some money since you will not need to replace your filter as often. Re: Water Filters - what to plan for? 3Jan 30, 2015 5:07 pm I'm not sure there's much point in having two levels of filtration, the water's not that bad is it? I thought the point of the whole-house filtration was so you didn't have to have a separate drinking water tap? Re: Water Filters - what to plan for? 4Jan 31, 2015 7:23 am I'm picky I actually don't like chlorine in my shower water if possible. But then I worry the whole of house one won't be good enough for drinking. I came across the in line type filter and thought it may be cleaner for the "island" sink rather than another outlet. Hmmm still have time to work this out First world problems! Re: Water Filters - what to plan for? 5Jan 31, 2015 12:31 pm Personally I got a separate Zip water filter with room temperature water and boiling water as we use boiling water quite often (tea, instant soup, etc). And I prefer a separate tap for drinking because it won't be contaminated with water from the hot water system. But if you prefer the in-line type, Zip makes one with quite a large capacity: http://store.zipindustries.com/zip-filters/zip-globalplus-water-filtration-kit-93150 Re: Water Filters - what to plan for? 6Jan 31, 2015 12:57 pm Great find I hadn't seen the zip one. I saw this one http://www.hiflowfilter.com.au/ Which took me down the inline path. Prior I was just going to get the standard separate tap water filter. Re: Water Filters - what to plan for? 7Feb 11, 2015 10:46 am I use these quite alot.... http://www.everpure.com.au/Products/SPA ... ystem.aspx It filters all of the water to the cold side of your kitchen tap. No need for an extra tap, and quite easily retrofitted. You do lose a slight bit of pressure at times, to the cold side though. Quality is like buying oats. If you want good, fresh oats, you'll pay a fair price. However,if you can be satisfied with the oats that have already been through the horse, that comes a little cheaper. i thought the flipped plan initially but bec i want narrow pathway from entry to dining (dont like bend), also cannot fit the… 7 17338 5 10509 Hi, Seeking volume or semi-custom builder in victoria(east), which have existing double story wide floor plans.
