Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 31, 2011 8:27 pm Hi all Thought id share some of our pics that were taken during our kitchen reno. Ill add a few at a time with a short description. Foremost, id like to thank those that answered my questions in this forum and all the amazing ideas you share - many of which were integrated into our final design and helped us achieve the look and functionality we wanted. We are happy with what we were able to achieve in the 3 or so months from demolition to power up. The 2 months before that were used to get together quotes, draft sketches, samples etc Long process but well worth it. ----- First pics - our tiny disaster of a kitchen(around 18yrs old) before demolition. We could only put up with it for about 2 years. Plumbing cancelled + all power cut to this room. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Then the slate got jackhammered out which was the hardest job out of the whole project. Loved cleaning up that fine powdered cement that went all over the place(NOT!) Re: Retrospective Kitchen Reno blog 6Mar 31, 2011 9:05 pm Wow! You must be loving all of that cupboard space you now have. Looks great so far! Re: Retrospective Kitchen Reno blog 7Mar 31, 2011 9:06 pm After most of the draws doors etc were in, the templates for the benchtops were taken Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ While we wait for the stone to be cut, we had the tilers come in. 600x600 rectified porcelin tiles with matching grout colour. 1.5mm spacing. They did an awesome job especially with cutting such a hard tile to fit some weird door frames. Id totally recommend getting the larger sized tile even for a small place like ours. Less grout lines makes the place look bigger Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Benches were in next - here is a pic of the joins Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ PS the stone we used was QQ Luna White PPS the colours on the doors was Dulux White on White in full gloss. Re: Retrospective Kitchen Reno blog 8Mar 31, 2011 9:17 pm Theresa Wow! You must be loving all of that cupboard space you now have. Looks great so far! Yeah for the first time ever we havent had to store any kitchen appliances in our built in wardrobes LOL more to come Also if you have any questions dont hesitate Re: Retrospective Kitchen Reno blog 9Mar 31, 2011 9:25 pm Next was the plasterer, he came in to fill the holes that ended up everywhere and to cornice the top of the cupboards. He also re-done all the gyprock behind where the glass is to be installed - leaving holes in the right spots for the powerpoints etc Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Retrospective Kitchen Reno blog 10Mar 31, 2011 9:35 pm After the plaster was completed we started with the Paint. White on White gloss for the doorframes to get rid of the 80's brown and Lexion Half for the walls. Ill have to leave it here for now - iv got more pics that I still have to upload to Photo bucket(hopefully tomorrow). Those photos will show the glass, sink, mixertap and appliance install Oh and the drawers and solutions that the kitchen builder gave us to deal with the 45degree angle Still staggering to look back at the old pics and see the old kitchen we had to put up with! The original looks a lot similar to our kitchen , but we are hoping to renovate it in the coming few months. Are you able to give me a rough idea on how much something like what you've had done costs all up? Thanks.
