Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 31, 2011 4:39 pm Hi All! OK so I'm fridge shopping even though my house isn't completed yet I'm looking at an upside down fridge. It fits the fridge space easily (with at least 5cm left, right, top spare). What I want to know is - Which would be better: A Left opening or Right opening door? (Swing to left, or swing to right). Here's my house plan, not the kitchen design: http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/3918/floorplan1.jpg Now would it be better to swing to left - meaning the door closes off the entry to the kitchen leaving the fridge open to the rest of the kitchen, or should it swing to the right, meaning it's open to the hall area. (if you know what I mean?) Your thoughts? LEFT FRIDGE: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ RIGHT FRIDGE: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Building at Warner Lakes in sunny Queensland. Re: Quick advice needed for fridge in Kitchen :) 4Jan 31, 2011 6:34 pm Absolutey hinge left. Our fridge opens away from the kitchen, it's such a PITA. We have a Westinghouse upsidedown fridge very similar to your pics, it's AWESOME Re: Quick advice needed for fridge in Kitchen :) 5Jan 31, 2011 8:35 pm Hinge so it opens into the kitchen. Our last fridge did this and it was great. Sadly it died and we needed a new fridge in a hurry and had to buy the standard fridge in the shop with the hinge on the right. Hated every day it was in the last kitchen. AND I still hate it as we still need a hinged on the left fridge for this house. I'm hanging out for it to die. Now the kids are older I figure they can live without a fridge for the extra time it takes to get one with a left side hinge. So which ever way opens into your kitchen. That way if you fridge is a bit of a mess and you have visitors standing outside of your kitchen section they can't see into the fridge. and if your fridge is beautiful then as Erin said it makes it easier for cooking as the fridge opens into the cooking/prep area. Re: Quick advice needed for fridge in Kitchen :) 6Jan 31, 2011 10:45 pm Left hinge for sure... I think it would annoy me if it opened so the door went into the kitchen.
