As my name suggests, I'm a reno virgin! We are planning a renovation and extension of our home, and I was wondering, can anyone tell me the differences between brands of sinks? We currently have a kitchen sink that's a Clark, which is only 4 years old, and it looks terrible (extremely sratched, and showing rust in spots). I was considered Oliveri sinks, but wasn't sure what was out there that was good quality at a reasonable price. Is it much of a muchness - are they all the same, anyway?? Thanks! Re: Kitchen Sinks - What's the Difference?? 4Nov 06, 2007 5:44 pm NO… not just the price, the quality of the metal counts big time!!!
You will need to do some leg work here, and take yourself off to have a look at some. Metal fatigue in poor quality metal, (sinks) can be a real issue. Welcome to the forum!!! We get a Franke sink in our new place. But I loved the Oliveri, it kept it's shine beautifully. We had the drainer that sat in the sink and the cutting board to suit as well. Loved it.... One homeone user Ladyice paid about $2K for a sink (that was with a discount i think). It depends on what YOU want. Make sure it's 304 18/10 stainless steel if that's what you are after. Go to a good store with a large range so that you can make an informed decision. Good Luck! Re: Kitchen Sinks - What's the Difference?? 7Nov 06, 2007 6:31 pm My bad!!!! Will get out the cat of nine tails and repent my sins..... Sorry Mek, no offence.... Loved it by the way, saw one very similar in the Clendon Vale display home last weekend. I am sure there is a difference. We have an Oliveri Underbench in our new house. I am told this is a good unit! I sometimes think that when you have so many choices it's harder than if you had fewer options! I like the comment about Oliveri sinks, and I am leaning towards that. Our reno is so big that we need to save on every little aspect, so if these are good quality sinks at a reasonable price, I'm sold! My husband would have a heart attack if I chose a $2000 sink!! Again, thank you all for taking the time to give me your advice. It's much appreciated. Sinks 14Nov 06, 2007 8:34 pm By the way, mattwalker, your new house looks lovely. I like the kitchen colour scheme (it's like what I'm after - Poly doors, I assume??) and the bathroom looks great too. Re: Kitchen Sinks - What's the Difference?? 15Nov 06, 2007 9:30 pm thanks renovirgin,
The doors are laminate right throughout. 2 24169 Levelling compound Ardit is the best but buy a bag of sand and make sand dam to protect your wood floor 2 17866 I had couple of quotations from pre-covid times, I am quite sure they are more expensive now plus with current USD rate and shipping costs it makes them really unaffordable. 6 26423 |
