Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 19, 2010 11:25 pm We are in the colour selection stage of building our home and have hit a dead end in regard to splashbacks - I really love the glass splashback, but our builder is very specific in that they will not install glass splashbacks - tiles only. We only have a very small area that needs a splashback so I was considering asking the builder to remove the tiled splashback from the tender and we will arrange to have the glass one installed after handover. Is the splashback normally installed before or after the benchtop? Also, any idea how much per sqm glass splashback's cost? Nic. It's strange that the builder won't allow the glass splashback. You may have to remove the tiles post handover, as the builder may need a splashback in order to get the occupancy certificate. Just remember, that if it's sitting behind a cooktop, you may also need to install a fire board behind the glass. Glass splashbacks are probably around the $300-$350/m2 mark. Re: Glass splashback - installed before or after benchtop? 4Jan 20, 2010 6:35 am From memory Southies didn't have her splashback on when applying for her Occupancy Certificate, so might not be a problem. Maybe have a read through her thread or send her a pm. Still not in. Don't ask!? The unit normally clips into a metal plate screwed to the wall, either plate is not flush, or unit not hooked in and could be hanging from the pipes partly, either might… 2 15800 Hi Courtney The mitred edges are glued up with epoxy so those little holes and gaps are areas that weren't filled correctly.
