Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Oct 11, 2009 6:50 pm My kitchen will be going in next week and I am getting worried that it is too white... Benchtops including a waterfall island in Essastone purity (the whitest you can get) Drawers and cupboards in 2pack gloss white Floors porcelain tiles in an off white colour Splashback in Mushroom Is this all too white? Has anyone regretted their white kitchen? The appliances might break it up a little but our dishwasher is semi intergrated and the microwave will be hidden so I guess the only thing you will see is the fridge and oven/cooktop/rangehood Arrgghhh Re: Is an All White kitchen too much? 2Oct 11, 2009 8:06 pm all white kitchens are so "in" right now, so go for it. When it becomes dated, you can change the doors or whatever, everything dates eventually - the all white kitchens have been showcased in so many house&garden mags etc... good choice! A thankful person is a happy person. Some wood look can be good, or a dark grey or brown looks good too. Thinking of building Re: Is an All White kitchen too much? 5Oct 12, 2009 6:48 am We are having all white too, but with wooden floors. I think perhaps your house will look quite white as soon as the kitchen/tiles are in, but once you get furniture and accessories in it will break it up. You can always add more colour afterwards. White is so modern and clean looking, I don't think you can really go wrong. Re: Is an All White kitchen too much? 6Oct 12, 2009 7:03 am We are having all white too ...... altho still not sure of the bench tops - they will be caeser stone & maybe a fleck in them hard decision for me at the moment. We are having SS long square handles and the splashback will be a fabulous colour I found so that will break it up. With SS appliances, I think the white will look classy. We chose our floor boards on Saturday - so that will add warmth. As others here have said, I don't think you can go wrong - we'll all be kicking ourselves together Jazzie Life is like a lolly, suck it and see Re: Is an All White kitchen too much? 7Oct 12, 2009 8:18 am I think it was from those magazines that we got the ideas Annietom. They look great all nice and clean with no muddy fingerprints at knee height I have two little ones so I'm worried we havent been more practical Re: Is an All White kitchen too much? 9Oct 12, 2009 10:35 am I wanted an all white kitchen too, but with 2, soon to be 3 little boys, I just thought I'd be asking for trouble lol. Plus all our walls are white too and the kitchen being a central feature of the living/dining area decided on a woodgrain look with white benches and splashback. We have gone against the trend of putting different colour cupboards up top though and just gone the same as the bottom. I don't think all white is too much, at least you can accesorize easy, and when you get bored of the colour you can change the accessories at minimal cost Re: Is an All White kitchen too much? 10Oct 12, 2009 12:19 pm SuH I don't mind an all white kitchen, you said you are having Mushroom as a splashback...mushroom in my mind is a pinky grey colour which I like, but what colour is it actually. I did a search for the colour and it lead me back to this forum: The tile looking square in the middle looks like the sample we saw. Installed its actually alot lighter http://www.stormygirl.net/house/kitchencolours1.jpg Re: Is an All White kitchen too much? 11Oct 12, 2009 1:10 pm EKT SuH I don't mind an all white kitchen, you said you are having Mushroom as a splashback...mushroom in my mind is a pinky grey colour which I like, but what colour is it actually. Re: Is an All White kitchen too much? 17Oct 14, 2009 6:45 am I'm still having 2nd thoughts about my caeser stone colour - the cupboards/drawers will be two pack white, SS long handles and I'm tossing up between SNOW and GLACIER (which has a few greyish sort of spots over it quite sparsley compared to those 'busy' stones Anyone have any thoughts on whether the plain SNOW colour will look smarter or do you think they will give off similar look? Sorry, don't have any pieces to show you Jazzie Life is like a lolly, suck it and see Re: Is an All White kitchen too much? 18Oct 14, 2009 8:24 am OK - I am totally biased here!! We went for a white kitchen. Polar white laminex cupboards/drawers and 40mm Caesarstone in Snow for the benchtops. We chose before CS released their new whites, so I may have gone for the pure white in that case, but I haven't seen it in real life. I do really like the Snow. Every kitchen book you will ever pick up has a lot of classic white kitchen, in all sorts of styles. I don't think as a colour it would go out of fashion as such. We have wooden floor boards which warms it up and a strong colour for the splashback. As others have said, once you add colour in other ways, it does break it up. And it is a nice fresh look. Here are some photos I had on Photobucket. There are some more recent shots on the blog too. The original kitchen I liked was SNOW & I just kept thinking, do I add a touch of 'something' or leave it We've chosen spotted gum wood floor and as you say, it adds warmth - the colour for the splashback I think I'm going with is called Deep Aloe Vera - stunning green so this will lift it too. I didn't want a sterile looking kitchen but seeing yours, I'm more than happy. Can't wait to get mine & post some pics, hopefully it will all come together thanks for posting your pics - much appreciated Jazzie Life is like a lolly, suck it and see Re: Is an All White kitchen too much? 20Oct 14, 2009 9:44 am Happy to help Jazzie! A coloured splashback will definitely be a winner I think. I love my kitchen!
