My wife and I are totally in love with our kitchen and it isn't even finished yet! It's nice to share and get other peoples opinions on things. Your 400 x 200 tiles sound great. I love large scale tiles. How far away is your kitchen from going in? On a side note I was told today that we are 3-4 weeks from handover Damn we have so many things to get sorted out! On a side note I was told today that we are 3-4 weeks from handover Damn we have so many things to get sorted out! 3-4 weeks from handover, WOW, that's fantastic! Not sure how far away the kitchen is, not far I think but our schedule has been mucked around by us as we are installing timber floors before the kitchen goes down so that's why they are doing the tiles first too (some pics of floor tiles on blog)... Yes, that's the beauty about this blog, being able to share with others and getting their views/opinions! Really happy with it and all the stresses over the colours are over! The barback and overhead cupboards are the same laminex - Smokey Sappelle but with the light the bar-back looks heaps lighter. The splashback colour is Dulux 'Otto's Boy'...on the starfire glass not clear glass. Im not sure weather to go dark or light floor tiles (was again thinking of a shade of grey). Ive read that both light & dark floor tiles show the dirt. Re: Show me your kitchen... 136Aug 30, 2009 5:51 pm This is our first renovated kitchen. (Before and after). Benchtop is Stipple Seal Diamond Gloss. A builder removed the wall, but removal and installation of the new kitchen was done by us, (our first time!). Re: Show me your kitchen... 138Aug 31, 2009 2:05 pm Thanks abstar Sorry, can't help with flooring - we're having vinyl - maybe try posting in Michelle's Interior decorating section ?? or in the flooring section? More people might see it then... Re: Show me your kitchen... 139Aug 31, 2009 2:28 pm Abstar Heres mine. Still need to get floor tiles & window coverings. Any ideas on colours & material??? Thanks This is D Y N A M I T E I have asked you about this colour in another thread, you don't have to answer that now It's just the most divine colour and I think a nice grey tile would be perfect. I have a grey tile with darker grey marbling through it, not gloss and it isn't too bad on the dirt showup side. Re: Show me your kitchen... 140Aug 31, 2009 5:10 pm Thank SuH...and I just finished answering you question in the other thread. I was actually thinking of a two tone tile, we have two little dogs that have free run of the house (inside & out), & thought their paw prints might not show as much. I dont want gloss tiles, I think theres enough shinny surfaces with the cupboards & slashback . I read on another thread that porcelin tiles can sometimes have a dust-like effect if they havent been made correctly and this is not always seen until after they are laid. So not sure as to go ceramic?? Thanks mate. Yeah good points! Leaning towards Option 3 to get a bit extra space in the cabinets but not going too crazy high (and expensive).
