Mernda Villages 164Apr 05, 2009 1:09 pm kek House-To-Be I went and had my Blanco demonstration today, not sure if anyone else has done this. Blanco demonstration?? How did I miss knowing about this? We got a card in our little showbag from the Sales Guy when we signed up for the house (not that I did anything with it!). Then I was on the Blanco website last month looking at accessories for our oven as I had heard about the Catalytic Liners (going to get them) and saw the tab for the demo. I should have gone when I was living in Vermont as the showroom in is Scoresby I learnt a few new things about my oven so it was beneficial and the food was yum [/quote] Can anybody go and do this or do you need the card from the little showbag??? What are the Catalytic Liners?? I don't believe in excess - success is to give. Paul David Hewson Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda Villages 166Apr 05, 2009 6:04 pm Kek, to be honest I think I'd rather use the BBQ outside than have stuff spitting everywhere over the oven. I'd like a flat plate for pikelets and pancakes though. I was told yesterday to only use the stainless steel cleaner every now and then.......oops! Was also told to look at other ranges of the bbq plate over the Blanco one. Grace16, the catalytic liners go around the three sides of the oven and basically keep in clean. They soak up any food splatter from the oven. When they are dirty you turn the oven to high and leave for a bit and the food splatter burns off and falls to the bottom and you just wipe out. They are about $150 for the freestanding oven. I think anyone can go to the demo's, you have to take your manual with you as you go off into a little group after lunch to your particular oven Bam, 4 weeks! That has gone by so quickly. Yes I think some of the shops must do demo's because the ladies yesterday said that they train them. Happy at Home Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! I knew I left some space in my kitchen for a good reason and today I worked out the exact set up I'd like to have I don't know anything about them myself but isn't joles getting one, I am sure she has mentioned it maybe she could fill you in on the ins and outs of a steam oven...I would be interested to hear too Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! They all have them in their own homes so I was able to get a good run down on how to use the oven. Today I rang and spoke to a friend who works for one of the big appliance shops and asked her some questions. She can get me one at cost price so that was nice to hear, google is always helpful too Happy at Home Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! You can all come over for a BBQ when we finish building (assuming that we start in the first place...!) Living away from the City has never been an issue to me because the City is not really I place that I go to alot. From Mernda it's only 27k's down the road so not too bad, we were about 23k's away at Vermont. I probably wouldn't move much further out than this though. I really liked Hidden Valley Estate when I started looking at Estates 14mths ago but I felt it was too far out and I had to also think of the kids as they got older. I think there is enough around here to keep them occupied. I loved a few Estates in Doreen - Laurimar and Mitchells Run but an equivalent sized block in Laurimar was about $40k more and Mitchells Run didn't have any land available - timing was all wrong. We also looked at an Estate is Macleod but I felt too closed in and it had the same feeling as Vermont etc, very established. I really quite liked Sanctuary Lakes after visiting a friend there but one of the main reasons for our move was to be closer to DH's work. I feel more than happy in Mernda and so do the kids. I can understand some people feeling reluctant about moving if they have lived closer to the City like you are now, it might take a bit of getting used to. There is another blog that I follow, they are moving to Sth Morang from the City! That is going to be different for them. I feel I have everything I need around here and it's got to be better for the kids too, less traffic etc. The only thing I'm waiting on is the new Cinemas at Westfields Then I'll be set Bam I grew up in Lalor, then Thomastown, then Bundoora, then South Morang and back to Lalor, so it desnt seem that 'far away' for me but noone at work knows where it is I'll probably be the last to build, dont worry! Have to make sure I dont miss out on the neighbourhood get-togethers! You really are a local Bam! I had never heard of Mernda, South Morang, Doreen, Whittlesea before Jan 2008! When I started telling people we were moving I'd just say 10mins up the road from Bundoora, I got sick and tired of explaining where Mernda was I was always surprised when someone would say that they knew where Mernda was! It will be interesting to see what the area is like in another 5yrs. Mernda Town Centre, our local shops here in MV, new schools etc. Happy at Home Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! You can all come over for a BBQ when we finish building (assuming that we start in the first place...!) I currently live in Thornbury and work in Richmond so the move to Mernda will be a bit of a change for me, but I'm out there almost every other weekend anyway as my family are out there. I don't think I would be building there though if my family weren't there - it's quite an incentive for me although the 60km round trip each day to work is going to take a while to get used to seeing as I currently have a ~20km round trip. Also for me, because I do work in Richmond, I will not be far from the city most days. 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Here's one for you - do you know where Briar Hill is? Most people have NFI where Mernda is and I don't mind that I then tell them its about 5km before Whittlesea... they know where that is due to the fires. I can't say I'm looking forward to the 60km round trip commute, but the times I will be driving it wont be too bad... Mernda Villages 175Apr 06, 2009 5:43 pm lisanne Here's one for you - do you know where Briar Hill is? Yes I do! Only because Grace16 came over a few weeks ago and told me about a shop there. I thought it was part of Greensborough or Eltham before that. I actually drove up there Friday night to meet friends in Eltham. I do feel sorry for those of you who have to commute to work everyday. I guess for us it was a bit easier as only DH works in this house and he's just in West Heidelberg. Lisanne, your house, nice and new might overshadow the 60k round trip I hope it does. Kek, I think alot of people just don't want to leave their comfort zones and having what they have around them. I could have easily stayed where I was but I'm always up for a bit of an adventure.
