Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 01, 2024 12:19 pm Hi I’m after some opinions regarding my new build kitchen island benchtop. We got a 40mm mitred edge island and along the mitred join there are lots of holes/gaps. Some have been filled in which look more noticeable and dirty. We have close to 40 holes all up. I was expecting a cleaner job as we paid close to $6000 extra to upgrade the stone on the island alone What would cause all the gaps and would you be happy with the messy patch job? It is a super easy and job to fix. Your kitchen joiner should do it for free otherwise you can hire someone. They will typically charge $4-5/m but as it;'s a small job expect to pay around $200 including travel time etc cheers Simeon Architectural Homes & Duplexes - specialising in custom designing homes to your budget Get a Free Onsite Consultation Today or send a PM for information, questions or advice. Silicone is the wrong product to fill them with and really the stone masons should come back and fill the holes with colour matched epoxy and give the edges a slight polish to blend them all in. Those dirty marks are areas where the initial epoxy wasn't cleaned up so well. The other little gap at the back is just silicone and is an easy fix with the correct coloured silicone.
