Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 15, 2023 5:39 pm Hi All So, I want to hang a bed from my loungeroom ceiling. Assuming the bed is constructed appropriately and I am hanging it from each corner using chain or thick rope, I need to understand how and where I need to attach it to in the ceiling for maximum strength and safety. Thank you in advance! 🫐 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Hanging Bed - Help! 2Feb 15, 2023 8:46 pm If I was to do this I would add extra supports in the ceiling cavity that are independent of any ceiling joists or truss bottom chords. The extra load of the bed wouldn't break anything, but you would crack your plasterboard with the extra deflection from the weight. It's been a while but I think a ceiling member is designed to carry 15kg/m2 with a 3 mm deflection. Could be way off though it's a little fuzzy up there. Hi there, long-time lurker but first time posting. I've bought a house 2 and a bit years ago and last year we had some major water damage on a converted pergola area… 0 8078 Yes, unless you are in a low intensity rainfall area or the area is protected from rain. Do you have access to NCC Part 2 or can you download it? I can email you a copy… 10 12874 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7569 |
