Could they claim the carpet for you? For rented properties, you need to take out a Landlord's policy, which covers building plus specified contents such as carpet and blinds etc. I doubt a tenant would be able to claim carpet that doesn't belong to them. Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda & Doreen Residen 3554Jun 24, 2011 8:44 am kek I doubt a tenant would be able to claim carpet that doesn't belong to them. Or that they would want to have that going against their insurance and no claim bonus etc when it's not their responsibility 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Mernda & Doreen Residen 3556Jun 24, 2011 1:27 pm hhmmmm funny one that...i might have to call the insurance company..it is landlord's insurance..but only house insurance...i might get them to add contents as well to be on the safe side.. Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda & Doreen Residen 3557Jun 25, 2011 8:51 pm Hi, I know some just asked about the 200mm setback and I have a similar problem I was really hoping to get help with. Our land [in Renaissance Rise] just titled and so we have finally started the build process with the site scrap happening this week. We are building with S#, and they have just told us that as our garage was 200mm off the boundary, due to gutters, the have zeroed our garage to comply with council regs. As it turns out they have moved the whole house over 200mm and charged us for the hidden gutters. Our issue is that we discussed this at the time when we extended our garage and were told it was fine. On top of this, our side is already small enough and we had placed the house to utilise the yard space. I know it doesn't seem like much but we feel devastated that this has been done without or approval. Furthermore, I cant find in any of the council codes about boundaries to back up our case. We don't want know where we stand, and we don't believe we should pay to extend the garage the 200mm when it was discussed and agreed upon at the time, esp considering we already paid 7k to extend it 2 mtrs. Can anyone help? We are so excited but over the last month are becoming very disenchanted with our builders and we haven't really began yet. Thanks. Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda & Doreen Residen 3558Jun 26, 2011 8:21 am What's in your contract/plans? If it shows the 200mm setback and you've not signed anything to agree to a change, then you're under no obligation to pay any extra. All changes have to be agreed in writing.
