What colour render to use??

*head spins right around* lol
Have your door purple and render window wall woodland grey?
garage door woodland grey
Paint the portico bushland. (the lighter colourbond colour)
downpipes dune or colour to blend with brick - I personally like the downpipes to blend in with the walls so they arent too noticeable.
Gutters woodland grey
fascia woodland grey

This way you wont have to pay that exorbitant variation fee.

That gives me more to chew on...sounds nice!!
one thing though.... I already have my downpipes in woodland grey

I almost went a light colour (dune) but I was talked out of it by the colour girl...she said it would look odd going in front of the woodland grey. But I have seen the gutters since then and they drop down directly under the gutters don't they?
either way to change the door or the gutters I'd be up for a variation I think

But I like those choices....how do I chose now? lol
Go with your gut feel, you know what you like and will have to live with them.

I do like Woodland Grey though and Dune.

Whatever you choose you will love because it is your house

If you already have the downpipes in HG then dont stress - it will look fine!

If you love your purple then do your window wall render purple. Do the portico in the paler shade of the Woodland Grey

Hopefully Michelle will come online soon and give you her thoughts.
Well I have just changed my downpipe colour to be Dune as well. I rang up to ask what colour they had put down for my meterbox because it hadn't been brought up and he said it would be Dune. So I asked for the downpipes to be the same
tricky lol
So...If we start with a clean slate and forget that the door is purple.
What colours would you chose
1. door
2. portico
3. window wall
My door isn't flash, its just a standard solid door with no glass in it.

Thanks everyone - I can't beleive how hard this is!!
What is the norm with render colours?
Do most people have the darker render on the portico and then a lighter one on the window wall...or vice versa?

Went and got 4 colour pots today, have found some nice ones.
Will put some pics together once the paint is dry and get your advice

Hi everyone,

I'm going to have to decide fairly quickly I think on what 2 colours of render I want.

Here are my colours
Bricks: Austral Nougat

Roof: Monier Barramundi

Gutter, window frames & downpipes: Woodland grey
Fascia: Dune

I have already picked my door colour and that is: Wattyl Dark Amethyst

Here is a pic of what my facade will be like.

I'm wanting a colour for the portico area and another for the wall where the windows are.
I was orginally not going to have render so thats why I chose the purple door, otherwise I would have had purple ont he portico. so I'm not afraid of a splash of colour, but don't it to be a eye sore either lol

Any suggestions?? I'm having a real hard time picturing it

Thanks

I'd go darker on the portico.
More inviting I think.
Thanks Michelle

Quite like the colours I got in samples.
Although I don't think they have photographed very well

Still open for suggestions

You can see that the dark amethyst doesn't show up very purple...it is, its the same as the colour swatch earlier.
The Designer plum on my swatch looks like a nice brownish purple.
Well I have to say the Dark Amethyst …..2 coats on render with the Urban Stone is just yummy!!!!!!!!!

Go for it!
In the dulux colour book there is a picture of a house that has a wall in the dark amethyst and it is quite bright lol
It would certainly stand out lol Yeah I love the Urban stone too.
What colour would you suggest for the door?
Dune full gloss
Is the Dark Amethyst a dulux colour?
Whoops sorry no its a wattyl colour..I'll blame all my mistakes on being sick lol

Dune full gloss....that sounds nice! Thanks
LOVE the urban stone with the amethyst, nice choice!!

And I'm now going the Dune front door too so we will match

lol I've never done bold colours before...I love purple and that amethysit is going to be very purple lol
I hope it doesn't turn out to be an eyesore hahahaha

I'll sit on it until Sunday I'll then send my builder an email to change the colour of the door. I'll also give the colour for the render eekkkkkk lol
Its good to be bold, means no-one else will be the same an dyou're mkain gmore of a statement.

Besides it syour house, if you love it, who cares if no-one else does?
Caz what colour did you go with for your portico??
Dune door will look nice too

We haven't chosen to have it rendered for now, just couldn't squeeze it into the budget. We are going to do it later ourselves (my step-dad rendered our old house really nicely) and we're probably going to do Jasper. I'm a brown/neutral sort of gal though, no boldness in me, I'm too timid

I think I'm rebelling against brown lol
I've lived in Canberra for the past 16 years and its the brown capital of australia lol Everyone has mission brown!!!!!! I hate it!! Before I moved here, I spent 4 long painful weeks (I had just had surgery on my ankle) to paint over all the brown in the house before I sold it.
I just don't want to go back to it.... but brown doesn't date that much, especially a nice tint of brown. Purple I could get sick of within 6 years...who knows lol Oh well, if so I'll render of it myself later on haha
