Hi all
My builder suggesting to get solar system (1.5kW) to be installed along with few other things. I requested the builder to change the solar system to "by client", as I thought of installing a 5kW system. The builder said I can install it after settlement. Now they want me sign PCV with a note,
Owner may be responsible to provide an Interim and/or Final Occupation Certificate upon completion of works if or as may be required by certifier. The Owner is to be satisfied that their lending authority will settle the house construction with Eden Brae Homes without an Occupation Certificate.
- Is this means, they won't provide us the interim Occupation certificate?
- Is it mandatory to complete all BASIX requirements before applying for interim?
I replied that I won't sign the PCV until this note is removed and it's the builder responsibility to provide us the interim for what they have completed. In previous mail, I was trying multiple times to get the solar system installed during the construction and he refused without any explanation. Thanks
Bump!!
Anyone faced similar problem in their build? Will BASIX solar requirements affect interim certificate if we have to do after settlement?
Thanks
What price is he charging you for 1.5 KW system
Hi
StructuralBIMGuy Thanks for reply. Below is the item for $3835:
Provide a CSR Bradford 1.5 Kw Solar Electricity System including:
* Suntech 250 Watt Panels or equivalent
* Power One inverter or SMA inverters or equivalent
* Clenergy or equivalent Mounting Frame
* Balance of System with cables up to 30m
* Installation, Testing & Commissioning of Solar system
Just FYI I was about to post about QLD govt interest free loans for Solar Power and saw this - a 1.5kW system seems very small for new builds in 2018. Our average system size is 5-6kW. With retailers offering a FIT of up to 20c now a few extra panels make a lot of sense.
We could do a 3kW system same specs for mid 4s. CEC Approved Solar Retailer, CEC accredited Installers.

Hi
SolarGuy I know its small and I also they price is very expensive for 1.5kW. The builder is trying to make it difficult for us. The challenge we have now, the builder throwing the responsibility of getting Interim certificate to us and they want us to settle them to get the solar installed. But I don't remember any lender will settle a builder without interim or full occupancy certificate.
Sorry to hear of the trouble. If I can help with a quote down the track let me know.
Adam
Hi
InvincibleInDN,What is the upgrade price to a 5KW system if you go through EdenBrae itself? You may find that the upgrade may be comparable to others?I haven't checked that yet. The total cost is almost close my loan credit limit. Doing it by myself is best option. I will check this on Monday. Also I already paid 10% using another solar company to install after settlement. The builder knows that as well. The note (mentioned in the first post in red) was added after they came to know about this.
This BASIX PCV was going between us for 3 weeks now. Originally, they provided me with 3 options and we choose one which was "by client". After signing it, they sent us new one removing the option which we selected. I even asked them why I have select these options multiple times, and got same answer, this was suggestion provided by the BASIX certifier company they dealing with.
Hey
InvincibleInDN , what happened to the interim OC? Did you get it sorted in the end?

I told Builder that I don't want Solar and proceed to BASIX without solar. Got the BASIX in 20mins and no problem.
Our build is still under construction and this is not a problem anymore.
