Charlibear's Build -Finally in!

Congrats on the beautiful doors and windows.

Agree corner stickers look awesome. All houses should have them... err.. I guess except costs...

I hope the recessed door concern gets solved.. sounds like there may be some solutions but hopefully it doesn't mean delay....

As long as they get it right perhaps!?

Hope you get a positive week of building progress!
Bah your builder seems like a pain in the butt, but your house is looking beautiful! I hope they start making progress at a quicker pace for you!

Aww this house is going to be the best looking one in the street i think!

I tried calling my SS about the recessed sliding door but he's on annual leave this week... thanks for letting me know mate... a quick email would have been nice.

Emailed Micah about the door... hopefully I get a non generic response.

Hopefully with this beautiful weather that's predicted all week we get some cracking action happening

OMG charlibear, you have one very thoughtful SS
Did you receive as response from the Franchisee or are you still waiting?

I heard back, he knows about the rebate and it's not going to cause any delays. So feeling a bit relieved. I also asked about the windows, they won't be changed until the house is nearing completion... I thought it would have been easier to do it now but nope towards the end

Can I win lotto

Found some pendants I love but at £230 each I don't think so

Or these for £795 each and I would cluster them at the end of the island like in the picture

Rebate will be easy, they will just extend the cut.

Try not to be to heartbroken it looks like nothing is happening. Chances are your kitchen, bathrooms and laundry will be measured this week, so in 2 weeks you will hopefully have plans to approve.

Plaster will likely arrive this week in your garage. Bricks harder as that rebate needs doing before they can do bricks there. But that won't hold up inside.

I think they could make date if they really just keep doing stuff each week.

Hey Shell,

I saw the kitchen guy out there about 2 Saturdays ago, looked like he was measuring up, so maybe I'll get them even sooner... a girl can dream right?

All that was meant to happen this week from my progress report was electrical rough in, I guess that's better than nothing.

I hope we have plaster delivered this week

Hi Charlibear

We finally have council approval so the GJ build is about to take the next step! How long was it (or should it be) from approval to start slab?? I think at contract they said around 4 weeks. I suppose the fun and games start now 😦. How is your build going?

Congrats on council approval!!! Yay!!!

I am definitely not the right person to be asking lol... we got out of council mid October last year and only got our start date mid Jan for a late Jan start. In our contract it says that we should have our start date within 20 working days from DA approval.

Our build is ridiculously slow and I regret choosing GJ, sorry to taint your view by honestly their communication is appalling and we are into week 19 with windows only just being completed

So things went wrong from that early in the process?? Doesn't give me much hope!!! Already resigned to not be in by Xmas which is what we had hoped when we started the whole thing back in August last year and were discussing with them getting plans into council in January, didn't happen until March and now a three month wait with council so pretty much things happen slowly!

Oh well, we are in it now, no turning back! Let's hope I show as much resilience as you!!

Yeah things went wrong in the start, just hardly any trades showed up and then we had all that rain from Debbie the b*tch and they claim 3 weeks of rain and no access to muddy driveway so I had to spend $2k to put in a gravel driveway so they could continue works... we've had one week of 19 hay trades have showed up every day

I truly hope you have a better run than us - I wouldn't wish these delays on anyone cause it's just frustrating and heart breaking to see you house sit there and nothing happen for weeks on end...
