4mm p/b wall cracks, replace or fill. Is there a standard?

Hi,

Am wondering if there is a set rule in regards to repairing plasterboard wall cracks. The cracks are in the vicinity of 4mm, caused by heaving, and originate from the corners of windows and door frames.

Obviously an obligatory patch job seems insufficient to us, wondering if there are any set rules or standards that dictate when the removal of a wall sheet is required.

I understand the need for stabilisaton of the slab prior to any repair work of course.

Thanks
Hi Velcro
Here's a list in order of sequence.
1. Locate and repair root cause of structural problem, eg, Settlement, vibration, expansion, stress failure, out of plane cracking...
2. Remove plaster board.
3. Repair or replace defective structural element/piece, corner window Frame/Wall may need stiffening, bracing, fixing.
4. There are codes for concrete repairs, for stud walls AFAIK NO
