Hand Held Shower Head - Water Inlet

Good Morning. I have a hand held shower head fitted in the bathroom. The plastic fitting that the metal hose screws onto has a stripped thread. It looks like this is an adapter of some sort that itself screws into the body of the show head to allow it to be replaced rather than the whole shower head. For the life of me, I cannot think of a name for this fitting. Can anyone assist please?

Regards,

Hi Wayne,

It sounds like you're referring to a shower hose tail or sometimes just called a shower hose adapter. It’s usually a small threaded fitting (often plastic or brass) that screws into the hand-held shower head and provides the connection point for the metal hose.

In some models, this part is interchangeable and designed to be replaced when the thread wears out, which sounds like it could be the case for yours. You might also hear it referred to as a shower head connector or insert fitting, depending on the brand.

If you're heading to Bunnings or a plumbing supplier, just ask for a “replacement tail piece for a handheld shower head” — or better yet, take the old part with you and they’ll match it up quickly.

Hope that helps! Let us know how you go.
Thanks very much NJH for your help!

Regards,
