Phase change Insulation
I wonder if anyone has used a phase change Insulation. eg http://www.phasechange.com.au/casestudybiopcm
In discussion with my sister (physicist with phD) the physics of the material is sound, but not sure if the practical application is good?
TIA

The material data sheet on this one does not show the flammability, which I suspect is very high, as it seems to be a fat or oil substance inside the waffle - which is exactly what we did our experiments with at high school. And you can't use water to extinguish it. Excellent at storing and stabilising heat, but unfortunately not my idea of a safe product. (And very expensive for a wax/oil base @ around $36/kg of wax). The equivalent of filling your walls with kero...???

SECTION 2 - COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS
Ingredients and Components: Derivatives of Fatty Acids, Fatty Alcohols, Esters, Emulsifiers,
Thickening Agents and proprietary Cross linkers.
SECTION 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
• Extinguishing media:
SMALL FIRES: CO2 or dry chemical
LARGE FIRES: Foam
• Unsuitable extinguishing media: Water spray may be ineffective on fire.
• Explosive limits in air:
Upper: Not available
Lower: Not available
• Special Protective Equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective
clothing.
• Other Fire Fighting Considerations: Cool containers with flooding quantities of water until
well after fire is out.
SECTION 9 - PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
[*]• General Information:
Physical State at 25
o
C: Soft Gel
Density: 0.8-0.9
Appearance: Semi Transparent
Odor: Neutral
pH: Not applicable
Flammability (solid, gas): Not available
Boiling point: >480° F (249° C)
Oxidizing properties: Not available
Different, but it sounds a bit risky for the material.

Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes.
