I was beside myself watching this!

It looks so UNSAFE!!!

I thought the washing machine above the toilet was strange....That was even stranger. You have to ask, Why?
3 things I would ask….

1 – Why

2 – HOW MUCH!!!!

3 - How safe???!!!
Now, the washing machine above the toilet did have a purpose.(ie recycling water /saving space in small flats)

But this one - why???

I don't get it.
It's art, not a piece of working architecture.

I think it is absolutely awesome.

From memory (when I first saw this featured a while ago) the building is being completely renovated or demolished, or something, when this installation is over.

The artist is Richard Wilson - he has done some pretty interesting work...I saw his 20:50 when it was at the ANG...a total mind bender - his major premise seems to be about challenging people's perceptions of the environments around them...which can be said about a lot of great artists.
Well….that explains it then.

A very expensive piece of ART!

A very expensive piece of ART!

You do remember how much the ANG paid for Blue Poles back in the 80's don't you?

And Pollock was a drunk who walked around the canvas dumping paint on it...

I would rather pay Wilson for his work any day.
Yes….anyone can do a Pollock!

I do agree with the window being, if not art, an amazing thing to have to think of, create, and make happen!

I was amazed, and could not figure out what propelled the wall section and how it worked! I still don’t know. To me, it was structural wounder!

But knowing its art, makes it even more interesting, they guy must be an engineer???
I think he is first and foremost a sculptor...but a lot of sculptors and artists I know (of) come from mechanical/technical backgrounds.

The device used to rotate the cut out is a design more normally used in nuclear power plants and the shipping industry.

Thanks for that Stumer…..how interesting!
I even looked up a rotator on the web, but I couldn’t get a good photo of one!

I can say……I would love to be a part of something like that, just to see how it’s all done!
The logistics alone are mind mending!
Pretty neat, but I trust they make the building look a bit nicer.

Pretty major project that's for sure.

^^^Saw the video. My head almost turned around. I got dizzy watching it. Do you call it an art? Hhmmm I wonder what's the purpose of that window?
At least it gives the building good ventilation and light ?.

See.... nutty ideas can be useful too
What The!!

Suppose its better than the up side down bridge they built last year!!
I love it! I'd go see it.
o boy..it really looks dangerous
They did it because they could.

Gotta test the boundaries of what is possible, even if it might not be practical.
WOW!
Only in Dubai!!
Turing out to be my most watched place on earth.
