Ok, I know you are rolling your eyes at me and my bricks... but we've had the brick clean (a while ago now) and all the hoo-har that came before it, but it appears that the bricks have not been cleaned very well.
We have raked mortar (visible indentations of about 1-2cm) and when the bricks were cleaned they have left behind bits of mortar on the edges of the bricks (on the face).
1. Is this acceptable for a finished product? and
2. Is there any way to get this excess mortar off?
The bricks have been finished for over a month now so I'm guessing it's pretty set on and will be impossible to get off. My only concern is that it is clearly visible on the entire brickwork.
Also on the subject of bricking our fascia boards - colourbond - seem to be scratched to the point that there are little strips of the powder coating missing all over them - but mostly at the bottom - like as if the bricks have been rubbed against them. Is this acceptable or will this end up rusting? Would a "touch up" job be ok? What are the chances of them being replaced?

Ours had 3 goes before a new guy was bought in to do a hand clean around most of the house.
It doesn't matter how long its been there, they have the technology to clean it properly.
Get on to them about it and let them know it's not acceptable!

Just like Matt has said, they have the technology to clean that, let them clean it.

Thanks guys - so it's not just me being paranoid.
I will definitely bring it up at next meeting. I guess I have the mindset that it looks ok, just not great... and I want it great, but worry that I might be being too fussy. We wanted a clean look - all of our lines are quite square, the bricks are raked so that they stand out - but then to have the edges smudged with leftover mortar seems to defeat the purpose. I know there are bricks that are meant to give the rough look - like tumbled and those rough cut ones but I don't think our bricks suit that look.

When our builder's brick cleaners were there, first time they damaged the insulation in alfresco (alfresco roof wasn't on yet), 2nd and 3rd time they damaged some of the alfresco ceiling painting and the painter has to return to fix it...
I bet it doesn't look like that on their display home.....
I would certainly be asking for a re wash of all the bricking and if they don't like it, tell them
you will get someone in to hand wash them all and forward them the invoice.....
yeah not too fussy, I would want that fix
