I think the door between the WIR and the bathroom should be cavity sliding door to give more room in the WIR. I am not a fan of the separate toilet and dual entrances to a bathroom. I think you would get a lot better resale having a main bathroom and separate ensuite. I think you should have enough ...

Plans are definitely unique. I like the levels around the kitchen, family and dining rooms. Having it open with the balustrade will give it a nice open plan feel. I also like the storage space you've added off the garage. Two WIR in the main bedroom is pretty nice. Not too sure what's going on with ...

Our house is based on the Monash. Since we have a narrow block we had to shrink the width by a few metres. We changed the layout of the downstairs kitchen, lounge and dining area to give us more space. You can see the sketches at the start of our blog if you are interested. Hi Mick, Will definitely ...

Starting to get exciting now. I can't wait till I see the frames up so I can picture the sizes of the rooms. We've gone for a wood grain door too but only have enough space for a single door. You must be getting some pretty fancy handles to cost more than the doors? What is your builder working on n...

Hi Lou, Wow. Only a few months to go. When do you get to go inside next to check out the progress. BTW. Love your wooden front door. We had our bricks arrive last week for them to start bricking up to the ground floor. Hopefully this week. I went around to the block on the weekend to mow the lawns. ...

Hi Greg, Look forward to seeing your plans. 5 levels sounds pretty unique. Sounds like your on a winner with your builder. We are building with Huxley so don't hold against me. We found it pretty hard to find a project home builder that would build a house to suit our sloping block. Probably paying ...

40 weeks and $1 penalty. I feel ripped off now!! We tried to negotiate but our salesperson when on about company policy was only $1 a day and they never budge. We were also told our timeframe was longer than normal due to the suspended slab/bearer & joist construction instead of slab. 10 weeks l...

We have 40 weeks in the contract for the build. I'm hoping it gets done before this. Just left a message with the supervisor to find out what's happening next. I want to see more action on site!! Rivercup. Council had a condition in our DA approval that we needed to do the retaining wall prior to fr...

Hi Guys, Just checking in. Nothing much happened with us since Christmas except a pile of crushed rock being dumped on the front driveway. Also met a landscape gardener on site for a quote for the side retaining wall. He seems to think we don't even need a side retaining wall as the side cut is stra...

I don't know how you got the impression 1m is nothing much. Sounds like something a sales consultant would say. I would be going for the split design over the single level design as you will have to increase your house footprint to get the same sqm house for a single level. More excavation required....

Just found out they have started excavation already!! Had a call from the supervisor not long ago saying they had hit sandstone(we knew that was coming) and asking whether I was happy with them to remove the sandstone and take the fill. I wasn't expecting them to start the same day they assigned us ...

Rivercup I like what you've done with the plans. Nice large bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs. We were thinking of extending the living out to the front of the house like yours to give extra space but liked the look of a verandah. We can't wait to see what the raked celings look like. We end up puttin...

Rivercup, In the end it looks like you’ve got off pretty easy. We’ve got -6*7m trenches -10,000L external tanks -And 2 pits. Waiting to find out what the damage is this time. I’m getting sick of signing of variations. How have you modified the monash?

Hi Andrew78m, OMG. I thought we had it bad. We started in Council in July too but thankfully our DA was approved recently, just the CC to get through now. Why the need to get a heritage report. Have gone for the modern facade but your living in an old area? What sort of split do you have? You buildi...

Hi Rivercup, Great to hear you have started excavation. Would love to see pics of the excavation, plans, colours etc. We are building with the same builder and are not far behind you. Just lodged the CC earlier this week to the certifier. I’ll be very interested to see how things progress for you. H...
