Hey thanks so much for the suggestions -- quick and great ones too!! We don't get light bulbs as standard (can you believe it???) so that's a great one. Also love the idea of taking a mirror, camera (doh! how could I forget that one!!) & also forgot to add a roll of adhesive 'dots' to note defec...

Hi All, We have our PCI early next week and are putting together our list of defects and incomplete items. I'd love to know your opinions of what to bring along. Here is our list so far: - tape measure - ladder - spirit level - torch - notepad (goes without saying!) - plans (ditto) Any other suggest...

Ours is 4850x6460. However, this doesn't include the WIR (2000x6460) which is behind a blade wall and 2500x3500 for the ensuite. We opted for a 'retreat' approach after living in a dogbox for three years :-) Pix

Yeah I'm with you...when I see things like this I often wonder what's going on too. There's a hideous house at the bottom of our street that has recently had temporary fencing wrapped around it ready for demolition to commence I suppose. I asked a friend who lives opposite what the owners were plann...

You've done a wonderful job. You should be really, really proud. I'm sure there are professionals around that couldn't come close to what you've achieved. :: Pix

Hi Chook, We have no shower screen in the ensuite of our soon-to-be completed house and regrettably I don't think it will stay that way for practical reasons. As a result of a design problem, a blade wall does not extend far enough and I feel there'll be way too much overspray into the actual bathro...

Not surprised they don't have Ikea in Nowra! LOL Michelle's a long way from the 'big smoke' and it might have been a while since she's been to the city!! Ceebs -- I think that Ikea is a great choice if you're on a budget with small kids around. If you like it then that's what's important :-) Pix

I totally agree with you regarding the resurgence in popularity of marble in kitchens. Calacutta Oro is my absolute favourite. It is a very 'warm' colour with streaks of gold and brown coursing through the grey. Carrara, on the other hand, is a much 'cooler' tone and can be very grey. Our stonemason...

TheMax and Fu, Thank you both for sharing two of the funniest posts I've seen in a long time!! As for me and how I've changed, I have more grey hair. I could bang on and on about all the crap, but what's the point? We all go through it to a greater or lesser degree. So far, our SS has been great...v...

Our setback (in an established area in Sydney) is 7m and I think that's insufficient. I would have loved to have gone to about 9m but the Council wouldn't allow it. Pix

Thanks for replying :-) I have been thinking *seriously* of the solar panel option and may do this after handover. It makes so much sense to feed power into the grid and now the government in NSW has changed the way this works, it makes the upfront cost much more bearable. We are also having gas (co...

Hi All!! We just received our quarterly power bill for our hot little rental and I nearly fell over when I saw it was more than $300. There are four of us (2xadults & 2x7 year olds) in a cramped little villa with no air-con, no fans, no dishwasher etc. You get the picture right? On yet another 3...

Hi, I know some of the pics in your set come from a home in Bellevue Hill in Sydney. The work was done as part of a major renovation. A decorator did the interiors and the style is broadly ecclectic -- meaning a mish mash of lots of things. The purpose was to create a 'timeless and classic' feel whi...

Hey Tam, It's looking great :-) I haven't visited your thread for a little while and WOW the progress!! Hi all :-) It may be that there's a bit of colour distortion in my photos because our bricks are dark blue, TamDaz :o I can't wait for the commons to be rendered either, JohhnyD but of course that will remain grey and unpainted for an eternity!! The house is enormous, Vunderful, but with twin 7yo gi...
