Building A New House

No cost variations Raised alfresco and patio slabs, to reduce the step down from inside to outside. Went with a 90mm step down, and after the 50mm rebadge to doors ends up with the tiniest of step downs Moved shower mixers to wall next to screen doors instead of under outlet Used the extra aggregate...

Well, I thought I better start a thread since we are halfway through the build! My partner and I had been discussing building a house since early 2014, but could never find anything we were happy with. We finally found our block earlier this year! Deposit placed in February, with settlement in June....

Ahh. If it was built that long before you bought the land, I imagine they would be hard pressed to find it reasonable for you to pay half!

Ours is 41m long too. Luckily the developer put in our rear fence as we are on the edge of the estate. We have just started looking into fence quotes. I don't want to know the figure hahaha. 97 would prob give me a stroke

Valeco do full custom design, change as much as you like or get a whole pile of designs from other builders and create a draft of what you want from each of the other designs and get them to quote it! The cost of changes was minimal as it all works out based on m2 and the inclusions you choose :)

Unfortunately, there no regulator for pricing those sorts of things. Each builder offers a product at whatever price they choose, and if you don't like the price, you don't accept that item. The only time you have any option to escalate would be if they mislead you etc.

Does that cost include extra height doors or anything? We paid 3k for 247m2 of floor space for upgrade to 2. then extra $560 to upgrade our 12 internal doors, and 210 to upgrade 6 sliding door panels, 360 for higher shower frames

My understanding was (in Queensland at least) that you require a floor waste in all bathrooms (as well as the standard floor waste in a shower) and in any water closet that has a sink and that Laundry isn't a building requirement. Our builder allowed us to add one into the laundry as they were alrea...

Thanks guys! Still no news, and apparently the site supervisor wasn't told that soil tests could be done, so was refusing all the builders access! That's been sorted now, and I'm not even sure Hallmark tried to get in as their admin is so slow. Land still hasn't been submitted for registration (soo...

Did anyone else change their mind in their 48 hour cooling off period, we emailed our changes before the time was up, but Candice hasn't gotten back to us, and now the times up.. will we have any trouble? The fact you sent them to her in the time frame means you will be fine :)
