Depth of cut is max around 800mm. I am engaging a landscaping guy now. Retaining walls in excess of 500mm high need to be engineered. Have neighbours with a landscaper building retaining wall ranging from 600-900mm high. Pretty sure there is no engineering plan at all as I ask the same landscaper d...

Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk.

Once the painting is done, it's nice enough for me. The garage door and main door will draw eyes into it if it's a contrasting colour. Who are you building with?

I'm not with any of the builders one could find at Homeworld. If weather, covid, labour and material shortages were to blame, how does this affect one builder but not so much for the other in the same area? I've experienced first hand the unexpected delay on one thing and the length it took to fix i...

Just a slightly different perspective, my build's slab was poured near the end of March this year. We're close to handover. Double storey in Sydney. Not sure how my builder can achieve this given all the horror stories but have a few houses in the area that started within the same month and complete...

Engineer won't know the exact linear meter coverage as he doesn't really know how deep will be rock/solid soil under the pier, so he can only estimate. It doesn't make any sense to do more piers than recommended by the engineer. You should rather watch that the builder doesn't do less. This is the ...
This is the truth. Geotech report is only an estimate. Be onsite with a tape measure the day they drill the piers and a...

My custom builder quotes says 30 double power points and 60 9v LED downlights for double storey 30 sq home. I asked for double power point with USB provision. when i asked for extra power points and lights the builder charges as?? 150$ for usb 110$/ power point,?? 110$/ light. Are these prices reas...

Dear Experts, My builder (in Sydney) shared his HIA contract and i can see there are lot of clauses favorable to builder. I know most of you guys recommended to get the contract reviewed by Lawyer before signing it. I am planning to consult with a lawyer before i sign it. But my question is, how fl...

I am guessing you have also asked for a least of houses with Blackheath or lightning bricks that you can drive by in your area. There are it's of Blackheath houses to look at.

I was tossing up between Blackheath and lightning but ended up going with the latter. It depends on what colour is your favourite. I think Blackheath is easier to maintain given the semi gloss finish and darker colour compared to lightning. Is 20k rendering just the facade? My builder quoted 5k for ...

The contract only becomes fixed once they start on site ie put the slab down Do you mind sharing which clause in MBA or HIA contract that states this?

So if I understand correctly, the price in the contract means nothing and asking for a price increase is not a breach of contract? When price goes down, builder keeps the extra profit to themselves. But when price goes up, the home owner has to pay. How is this fair?
