For all those who were confused with the whole House and Land Package thing. Hope it helps! This source was found in the Wizard Home Loans website: http://www.wizard.com.au/homeloans/task.aspx?id=3 1. Developers usually offer two different packages. The first involves you purchasing the land from th...

Hi, Could someone please shed some light for me regarding the advantages and disadvantages of a house and land package? Is it better to buy your own land and then build your house or is it better to get a house and land package? Everyone I've come across are saying NOT to go with a house and land pa...

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a front entry Victorian Style door, that is 2340x1200mm? This size and width is just like the M3tricon Pivot doors, but I don't like their design from Corinthian. I'd prefer something more traditional and timeless look. I understand that because it...

Tried salvage yards for recycled ones? Good tip, recycled ones aren't that pricey.....considered what you get in terms of quality Example $590 for a Blackwood mantle at http://www.selectsalvage.com.au/ go to "Fireplaces" and then "Mantepieces" http://www.selectsalvage.com.au/images/0218a.jpg Or mak...

Just wondering roughly how much a mantelpiece would cost as I've looked through a lot of websites and they don't show the pricing :? I'm assuming this is because it's quite expensive. I'm after a Victorian Style Mantelpiece. Please check out this link and this is exactly what I'm after(similiar to t...

I'm really in love with the Mercer 35 - Californian facade. That would be my first choice followed by the Jasper, Grandview and Soho. The Hamilton was one of my options from the Porter Davis range. Thanks again! Hi, We built the Mercer 35!! Really lovely house - we've been in now for 2 months. Buil...

Is waht I would do is get the designs you like from both builders and see, with all your extras which is better value. Then you can also base it on experiences that people here have had with both builders also.... Because you can't just go on price alone....however it can make or break the budget.....
Hi, Great idea! It's just so hard to choose between builders as they both have beautiful homes. But yes, definately wil...

i would choose porter davis if i was you.. it has won more awards, and the BIGGEST awards, consecutively. i prefer their house designs. pricing is ok, and they have a huge range of houses. however, when you look in comparison to *****, they are both leading builders and they both have their pros an...

Definitely take a camera and batteries and lots of spare memory. They will point out which are standard and what are upgrades on the day, so just remember and note it down when you print or view the photos. The photos we took during the 501 tour helped us immensely when we were deciding on our sele...

Hi, Just wondering how much it is to upgrade to the huge pivot doors that M3tricon uses. They look absolutely great! By the looks of them, they look very expensive. Cheers

Hi klemaire, We dealt with both builders but ended up with M. We kept coming back to M. PD has very good customer service. Our experience with their sales consultant was excellent. AT that time, we chose the Hamilton 34. But because our financial circumstances changed, we opted to build a double st...

[quote="VJ"]Hi klemaire, Re: finishes, why not visit the Studio 501 and Hopetoun (not sure if it's open to the public now) so you would know which builder has the better standard inclusions/finishes and which items can be upgraded and for how much. Hi VJ, I have booked a tour for this Sund...

Don't treat the 20 week construction period as the all-important factor. You're going to live there for how many years? Remember also that if you bought a just completed house you would be totally oblivious to any construction issues. Being happy with the end product is what matters most. My sister...

From what everyone is saying, the Site Supervisor is the man that makes it all happen. Can we use an independent Site Supervisor, or do we need to use M3tricon's supervisor? You will need to use the Site Supervisor provided to you by whichever builder you choose, but you are free to choose an indep...

Klemarie, We would definitely consider building with M again. We are very happy with the quality of work done, and as has been mentioned, a lot of the time it just depends on who is assigned to the job on your house. Our only complaint is the amount of time they have taken, but I would rather them ...

we were in in a 20 week build, the main delay was the glass splashback and the showerscreens. As for Studio 501, I think you can go and do a tour of it on the weekends to get an idea f what its about. The best advise I can give you is sto do your homework. Some people have found the whole studio 50...

Neither builder actually builds the houses; they use subcontractors for all stages of the build. In most cases the quality of the finished house comes down to how good the Site Supervisor is, and how pedantic you are during and after construction. Exactly! Quality of construction can mean two thing...
