Polished concrete is exactly that, polished concrete. It should not have a polyurethane seal coating - think granite or marble bench tops. http://www.concretecare.co.nz/grinding.shtml is a good site with easy to understand information.

Hey Ash, can i ask how good is a Bulldog stretcher as compared to a power stretcher when laying carpet???? :? A bulldog stretcher is what proceeded knee kickers and power stretchers. Apparently they were pushed with your chest. I have never seen one though.

With all of the above ...... why bother! :? :( Ash. Dunno, it's not my decision. I'm just saying it can be done and it's not hard to do. You wouldn't need to professional clean in 99% of cases. You can nail into the grout between the tiles - I'd also use liquid nails or a PU adhesive. As an e...

Yeah, there are some issues to consider, my advise is general and I was trying to keep it simple (saves typing) Yes the surface would need to be clean. Ardex A45 can be used unprimed on many surfaces. Some smooth tiles may need a neoprene primer. If the floor is hand trowelled you will only be...

It’s definitely OK to lay carpet over a tiled surface! Make sure you use quality underlay. Underlay will not hide anything. Like all things in life, preparation is the key to success :D

Resurrected! Applying a levelling compound over tiles firstly might be a possibility, but still not advised. Ash. Ash. You can do that, it's not hard to do either.

http://www.embelton.com.au/floor2.htm I have sold a lot of their product. It is still a glue together system. There are some very good click systems that are worth having a good look at also. Don't forget, these type of products will scratch, they will dent, they can creak and are noisy to walk on. ...

Rochyjp, wouldn't the underlay provide an even suface for the laminate? :) Eimaj The underlay will only follow the contours of what ****** underneath.

Can we putty the floor to remove the chips/dents, and also the lines between the tiles, so the laminate doesn't sink in to them? If you are handy with a trowel you can put a screed of a cementious repair motar like Ardex A45 . It does not have to be billiard table smooth. It's not a lot different t...

This is a hard one. Acoustic underlays do exist:- http://www.soundguard.com.au/htdocs/silentstep.htm http://www.damtec.com.au/application-timber-substrate IMLE*, over a good high density underlay, an acoustic underlay will not make much difference by itself. It may have a reasonable effect on low le...

If the line was not a seam, what was it? :? Ash. On the inside of carpet rolls it is not uncommon to get a pole mark - where the end of the carpet and the first run around the core overlap. This in usually 200-300mm from the end and normally comes out after a few days. The mark on the picture was f...

I have taken apart laminate flooring without damaging it and sell it to others before. My way is as follows: It is a room of 4m*5m. Take the skirting apart first. Then 3 people take the same row apart at the same time. The laminate flooringkept well and the process was very quick! No offence mate, ...

It's also very noisy and oversold as to it's real performance. The market is flooded with cheap product and initially, they all look the same to the untrained eye. There are some that perform extremely well but they are few and far between. As far as just taking apart the broken plank and replacing ...
