yeah im confused about the Wifi recommendation too - Considder this - You have a 100MBT FTTP connection. Its off peak and you are accessing max theoretical speeds. Youre using your tv to stream some netflix via 5ghz wifi and someone else on the network starts tormenting a stack of movies to their c...

It's not great advice. Nothing you're going to be streaming on a tv requires more than a 100mbit connection, 25mbit is reccomended for 4k 30hz. The few things that might exceed those, 4k 144hz+ game streaming such as on a Nvidia Shield will by far benefit more from the reduction in latency from goi...

Just take a wander past the gates when tradies are onsite, but somewhere they can't see you. Take a quick look at the lock (usually a combination lock), the right combination should still be shown as they never change it until they lock it back up. Best tip I ever got

Hello Members For anyone who has completed their construction recently, have the Lenders done a valuation at completion. If so, how have the outcomes been ? Did anyone of you see a drop is values given the slowdown in the property market ? Might be best to ask in the Home Finance section of the for...

We built with Blue Gum with off-white mortar, quite happy with them. There's plenty of variation between blue and brown. Plenty of photos here https://www.instagram.com/thatusernameistakenwhy/

To your point of 5ghz, I don't think there's any type of content out there that would require more than 100mb of speed. That's what the manufacturer says, but my Plex server doesn't listen to them.... there are a number of occasions where the bandwidth required exceeds the amount available when usi...

Especially a TV. No matter how best your router is, WiFi has inherent limitations and is best for lighter applications such as mobile devices. Not really. If you wire most TVs you will get worse performance than if you had a good 5Ghz WiFi network connection. Most models, particularly LG TV's, only...

We went with Cat-6, it's fine for the foreseeable future. We have 1Gbps internet and have no issues reaching that (minus overheads) using the cat-6 points. 90% of our devices don't have ethernet anyway, so are running off a UniFi network and it's rock solid. In fact, I have to run my TV off WiFi rat...

Anything external orientated towards the local transmitter will work... the steel of the shipping container will be attenuating the signal stopping the signal reaching the internal antenna.

It depends on where you're located, but in general more insulation is better. But there comes a point where the extra performance is marginal, and the costs outweigh the benefits. We're south of Sydney near the ocean, and have 5.1 (3.5 + 1.6 anticon) in the roof, and 2 in the walls. We have no heati...

There are wired or wireless alarm panels. It depends on the system you're purchasing, but I would say it would highly likely that they were wired. And yes, if you're using a doorbell that requires wiring and not battery, then have a provision wired for it. I use a Ring Doorbell 2, and had the builde...

I also asked during our electrical appointment and the lady had no clue and more interested in hurrying us to finish the appointment, the worst consultant we had during our Studio M appointment. How are fibaro products? They're brilliant... not cheap, but work brilliantly.

Thanks heaps Sparkyf. Is it common for new homes in Australia to have the neutral wire? The reason why I asked is because we want to install smarty light switch and with neutral wire, there a lot more options to choose from. I asked when I did our electrical plan (different builder, electrical comp...

Thanks. Yes, we like the way the bricks are blue, but with the brown base there's a lot of variation to them. Especially when the light hits it. I just wanted a colorbond roof, as I liked the look of it more than tiles. The old house we knocked down had concrete tiles, and they were quite old and ti...
