Hi, inspecting a potential house for investment. It’s 3 years old, overall good condition. I noticed on an old rug there was some fraying and what looked like insect eggs. Some around the edges of the very old rug and some underneath. What are these? Is it a concern? The rug is leaving when the owne...

Inspecting a rental property that I built 3 years ago. This skirting board is on the back wall, I saw this skirting board is coming away from the wall. The skirting itself isn't swollen but something between it and the plasterboard is. Photo here. There is no damp staining on the wall or floor, but ...

https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/89030_1602987375.jpeg Starting to see some cracks in my cement work, not many, but like this on a new house built about 10 months ago. Is it any reason for concern, or just normal for a new build?

Be keen to know if by definition AS1684 would mean it is ok and the roof can support them.

Hey, I’ve built a new house about 12 months ago. I’ve recently decided to get solar for it, and reading my engineering drawings for the roof there is the disclaimer “No accomodation for loads such as solar and other systems unless noted.” Seems my builder charges an extra $300 to modify trusses to s...

https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/89030_1599983685.jpeg Hi, I’ve finished building a property where the garage is on the boundary with the neighbour. I have perimeter concrete right round the house but not next to the garage as I can’t obviously pave the neighbour’s land. He has now built a flower bed...

No that wont happen, you have to register your development with Testra Smart Communities even if it's in an NBN area and can take up to 6 months 6 months for them to reconnect or 6 months for them to just detach the current cable before I can demolish the house?

I'm all for trying to save some money when I can do something myself, now I have a bit more time, as long as it doesn't need a qualified professional for safety/electrical/gas etc reasons. In that case I'd always get a pro. I've been in the attic of a large heritage place we are renovating and the a...

If your street is NBN enabled, you can order it to be installed the day after handover. Mine took 2 weeks from date of order. My builder connected the electricity for themselves to use during the build and paid the bill. At handover I had the option of continuing with the same provider or switching...

As well as my reno project, I'm building a pair of new houses as a sub division. My NBN hub is being down by the builder, bu...

G'Day from SA! Finally got myself the house I want to stay in for years, nice size, large block, pool, but the inside is a bit dated. Hopefully going to enjoy the project of renovating it to where I want it to be. The place s structurally sound, its just an early 2000s decor that I want to clean up....
